Argentina - Getting there in Lie-Flat Seats (EZE)

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone can point me to which airlines/aircraft fly east coast USA to EZE with lie-flat seats? We have accumulated a lot of points in several different programs so I'm interested in all the options. I started to look and some United flights have lie-flat and some don't. We are trying to go around March sometime so if you know of airlines that will have converted to lie-flat seats by then, that info is also appreciated.

Thanks!
Marli

Any UA 3 cabin flying there (763s) will have a lie flat F and C cabin. LAN will have a lie flat premium business cabin on all their aircraft. AA has lie flat F on 3 cabin planes - on the 2 cabin, I'm not sure if they've changed the seats. AC has lie flat from YYZ (however, you'll have a stop @ SCL).

UA is about to change its 3-cabin 763 to a 2-cabin 763 serving EWR-EZE. Both configurations have lie-flat seats in BusinessFirst.

What a confusing name for the cabin.

Do the 763 changes also apply to their flights out of houston?

Do the 763 changes also apply to their flights out of houston? Not so far. Still no lie-flat seats shown on next year's timetable IAH-EZE.

UA have just announced they are changing IAH-EZE from Continental 767's to United 767's. The Continental planes on the route now do not have lie flat beds. And UA's 767's have seating plans both with and without lie flats. As I'm flying that route in January I am anxious to know if the new planes mean I'll get a bed.

Thanks guys!

I can see IAH seems to have them on some, wish they all had it.

I just checked my IAH-EZE flight and I asked on the UA forum and the flight is with lie flat beds. That will give me a nice nap on the way down from IAH.:)^

Good news but be aware that UA do tend to change equipment at the drop of a hat.
We were expecting old F on our UA flight and were pleased to see it was new F that was substituting. That was on a 777 on the ORD-GRU route so maybe the 767s are more reliable.

The UA 763s were 100% guaranteed the same int'l config until the merger. Now, you've got the possibility of a sub.

You may get lucky with Delta from ATL, depending on when you go. They used flat bed 764's for a while, now back to cradle seat 763's, but switching to flat bed Airbus soon...

Emirates....?

From the US?
Only a fanatical mile runner would go via Dubai. :D

Word of warning.......I read over in the CowDo thread that UA have been messing about with their equipment to EZE so it might be wise to check just what they're using. I think they have done away with the F cabin but regular UA flyers will know better.

The lie flat beds UA are promising for IAH-EZE are scheduled to start on November 4.

I'm in the planning stages of a trip to Argentina for fall of 2013. I have enough miles on AA for business or first. I also can get enough into UA from my Chase UR accounts for business. It will be my husband and I traveling. I'd prefer to fly J and use less miles up.

Which airline has the better lie flat seats for the long overnight flights? One note about AA is that they almost never have 2 J seats for award travel on the same flight but usually there are 2 award seats in first. I've done a few dummy booking just to see availability 11 months out.

Can't comment on UA J seats to EZE but if you fly AA, I'd recommend that you use the necessary miles to get into first class. AA's business seats are nominally lie flat but they achieve this by stuffing your feet under the seat in front of you, in order to cram as many seats into the cabin as possible. As a result, the J cabin is very cramped.

For me, a good business class offers space, not just a flat slab to sleep on. AA's first class cabins on the three-service 777s that they fly to EZE are nice and roomy. Pay up and enjoy!

Yes if booking AA F at least you're guaranteed getting a decent product. UA new J seat is very good although if you don't get that you could end up sitting in an old seat which belongs in a museum.

I'd book AA F and be done with it.

Another voice for AA F instead of J... I find J on AA to be barely sleepable (just endured another night last night on the now re-numbered 953 from JFK to EZE). J on LA is considerably more comfortable, but requires a routing either via LIM/SCL or the MIA-EZE flight.

If using AAdvantage miles for redemption, the difference roundtrip between J and F is only 25,000 miles (100,000 for J, 125,000 for F). I've used 25,000 to upgrade from J to F oneway before (and considered it worth it because I find AA J so uncomfortable) so I would not even think for a second about using 25,000 more for F in both directions. The fact that availability in F is much better than J just makes the decision easier.
