Chase Ultimate Rewards - Chase Credit Cards- Newbie
I am new to this and have been reading some of the posts on here and have a question...
On July 10 and 13th, my husband signed up for THREE Chase cards:
1. United Explorer Mileage Plus
2. Sapphire Preferred
3. Marriott Premier
This was BEFORE reading all the posts about how Chase declines multiple cards within a short time frame... but we were approved for all THREE (yay!)!
I signed up for the United Explorer Mileage Plus on July 10th too and was approved...
My question is should should I wait to try and get the other two? If so, how long? Does it make sense to move around the credit line ($17,500) we have on my UA card to get the other two?
Chase has their own system and no one can tell you for sure if you need to wait. The general rule is 6 months a card from chase, but as you saw that's just a general rule. You can try applying, it makes it a bit easier if you wait. And yeah you can move credit if they do reject you, how much you move is up to you and chase though. Do you need 17.5k on one card? That seems like a question you need to answer, we can't tell you.
Congrats on your new cards though, you may want to branch out from just chase cards and diversify, maybe easier to get more points in different places.

Did your husband got instant approval for all THREE or did he needed to call Chase for reconsideration?
You can try to apply for another card. If Chase denied it, just call them for reconsideration. Most likely you will get it if you ask them to split up your 17.5k credit limit among the cards.

In a period of about 3-4 months I got 3 Chase cards (Hyatt, SP, UA) and my wife got two (Hyatt, SP). I think we had some disapprovals but it was easily cleared up by offering to move part of the credit line to other cards.
Am planning to cancel her Hyatt card and get her UA after we get back from our trip where we're staying at Hyatt. Keeping hers just in case.

I have done it in a similar way with opening 3 in a couple months but you have to consider are you going to keep them open after you use the bonus points or miles you get?
I have some hotel cards I am afraid to close since I haven't used the points and if you don't really use the cards will it hurt your chances of getting more Chase cards in the future. YMMV but I don't think anyone can Guarantee anything in writing. I don't know if they would take back unused points but if you get 70k from Marriott and don't use the card more than a few times could they take back the points if you cancel early unlikely but possible.
Would some software detect all the closed accounts with little use and prevent future ones more likely than taking the points.
