Marriott Rewards (including Ritz-Carlton) - Which Marriott by beach to use points for

I'm looking to take a vacation for about 6 days or so with a friend in October. I'm looking for a great Marriott to stay at for a birthday celebration and will be using points for the stay. Suggestions on ones to go to would be appreciated. Thanks!

I was just looking at that one! Have you stayed there? What was it like?

RC San Juan is certainly among my favorite close by.

If you are willing to bend on the whole sunbathing part the RC Half Moon Bay is awesome, though you won't get much of a tan nor is there a "real" beach.

The RC Bali is also amazing, but a bit longer of a flight.

In Florida, I'd go with Marco island, harbor beach or Eden roc.

In Florida, the Harbor Beach Marriott in Ft. Lauderdale is one of my favorite Marriott's anywhere. Its on a great stretch of beach, has a very nice pool, spa, etc. And I've always received great service there.

Depending on how many points you have to use, the Cayman RC is spectacular and on the best part of 7-mile beach.

Get a room in their Ocean Tower. Amazing views + all rooms in the ocean tower have balconies.

If you're an Elite member, they really take care of Plats with upgrades. One of the most generous properties in my experience.

LoL yep, still standing! They 'remodeled' the original tower + added a new Ocean tower back in 2009/2010 I believe.

unless the specific property is running a local promotion regarding a 5 for 4, the only way to get a 5 for 4 is with points!

FT has been getting a reputation for being unfriendly and this is an example of why.

Your point that to get the 5th night free is available only using points, unless a property has a local promotion is valid.

But the harsh editorializing was not needed. You've been on FT & while & could be a positive resource for others!

sorry to disagree, but anyone on FT for 3-years already knows (or should know by now) that the 5th night free offer is extended only to use of points (unless that prop is running a local 5 for 4 promo) so IMO, they been under a rock, taken to Mars by aliens, or been in the "big house" assigned to solitary...........

There is a dive shop on property at the Scrub Island resort. The dive boat carrived everyday I think but am not certain but a link to their site is on scrub islands website. I used points and did the 5 for 4 thing (160k points for 5 nights a nice deal imo). I did a trip report on this property. No beach to speak of.

As a regular FTer I hate to see people leave FT. As a Talkboard member I especially hate to see that happen, especially when it's not necessary. "Chasing away" FTers by being rude or belitting them is not appropriate.

FT has created the "Ambassadors Program" in some forums, where the Ambassador answers newbie questions (even if they're repetitive) in a friendly manner. One of our Marriott FT regulars is actually an Ambassador in another forum. To date we've not really needed one in the Marriott forum, as most of us are welcoming/take the time to answer questions without being rude to the person asking the question.

I've tried to gently suggest to some FTers (you included) that the rude/belittling comments are not appropriate, and that FT is intended to be a conduit of information provided in a friendly manner. Unfortunately some prefer to continue with said unfriendly behavior to other FTers, so RBPs it will be.

In addition to FTers putting others on Ignore, there is one thing that those who continue to be irritated by FTers asking questions that have been asked before (which is allowed): 1) don't read the thread and/or 2) don't bother responding. @:-) If someone's not providing helpful information in a response, one has to question why someone would even respond. Boggles the mind. FT is not a bully pulpit.

Again, FT is intended to be a resource of information provided in a friendly manner.
