Virgin Atlantic Flying Club - Flying Club Miles for ANA? Chicago to Tokyo

I browsed the first six pages of this forum, as well as called Virgin Atlantic to ask about transferring miles to ANA or US Airways. I was told that I cannot do that, but I could book with miles on their website to be used on ANA? It was hard to understand with the poor connection and accent.

I'm looking to fly from Chicago to Tokyo March 30 - April 11. If I have around 100K miles with the flying club, is there a way I can use those miles to book through ANA for the trip to Japan? I know they have high fuel surcharges which is why I'll probably find another airline, but I'm trying to figure out how this stuff works. I've never gotten an award ticket before. I'm assuming I call ANA, and they can transfer the miles from virgin atlantic for the flight? Is this correct?

I also think I read US Airways doesn't allow one ways. Since they have lower fuel surcharges (?), i'd like to use them if possible.

Thanks for any help

To redeem Virgin miles on partner airlines like ANA, you must phone Virgin Flying Club and tell them you want to redeem your Virgin miles on the partner airline

You do not ring the partner airline direct, and you do not do it on the website.

Check this link (http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/frequentflyer/fcpartners/airlines/index.jsp) for full details of miles needed to redeem etc.

You are right that US Airways don't allow one-ways. While if you have US Airways miles and redeem through US Airways there are no fuel surcharges. When you have Virgin miles and redeem on US Airways, you do this through Virgin and so they may charge a fuel surcharge. Perhaps someone can confirm if this is the case? Or you could ring them and price up a trip. If you still need to pay a fair amount of cash, that tells you that they are charging a fuel surcharge.
