Before you knock this gaudy hotel featured in Back to the Future II movie, keep in mind the entire hotel closed for complete renovation.

What interests me most is that the furniture was purchased from the behemoth and defunct Fountainbleu Hotel project for pennies on the dollar!

I thought you would mention the 5000 miles to graceland...

I thought 3000 Miles movie was shot at Riviera?

Was your "5000" miles including elite mileage bonus? ;)

my guess is to drum up business..being that the hotel isn't the main money maker for the business

When I saw the news, I was thinking of the movie Casino, my own personal favorite.

The furniture, while a huge step up for the Plaza, is Ikea type. The drawers are falling apart already, and the furniture looks beat up. I cant believe that they were going to put that furniture in an upscale hotel like Fountainbleu.

The beds are comfortable though, and the wallpaper and sinks are nice :p

Thx! I'm heading to LAS 9/8-9/11 and was just checking out lodging - this could work! ^

The yelp reviews aren't horrible..although most recent ones seem good...seems that they implented a resort fee..which is ticking most ppl off...

No wonder. It ain't a resort. Sheesh. What's next? Maybe Satan will be charging us $10 a night resort fee in hell!

While I submitted my info, I'm definitely skeptical about this offer and not expecting much. I havn't received any kind of confirmation email myself.

As far as the Plaza, I stayed there one night last year soon after the remodel. My expectations were pretty low but the room I had was clean and nice. The elevators were a pain but other than that it was good. For the price I paid for a saturday night stay on a busy weekend, it was an amazing value. I nearly spilled my beverage, however, when I read they instituted a resort fee recently. I thought it was a joke when I first read it. This place is the opposite of a resort and kind of makes a mockery of the "resort fee" concept.

Apparently, due to a high number of responses, they're not taking any more applications for the free nights!

It should be interesting to see what happens and if anyone gets 'free' nights out of all this.

I requested my nights for next weekend so I'll report back if I hear anything. Did anyone request anything sooner than that?

Coupon book usually have this hotel (like many older downtown hotels) at $10-$15/night. I have stayed their dirt cheap several times before, and never had a problem with the rooms (although now I get rooms comped in much better places...) Across the street at the Gold Spike they had Shrimp Cocktails for 99 cents. If you stay their, ask for a room with a view of Freemont Street.
