Hi all,

Sorry if I am asking an "already answered" question, but I have read lots of posts about various accommodation options but most seem to recommend the places to stay when you want to shop, eat or generally go out ... I'm meeting my hubby there and looking for a lazy, lie by the pool stopover for a few days and wondering what the best option is? I've read that beaches aren't wonderful - not that I'm wanting to swim in them, just laze around and look!!

I've been to Singapore a few times and done the shopping, flyer etc - might want to take in the Night Safari this time, but other than this just a lovely quiet pool to soak up some warmth! Having some good places to eat nearby would be a bonus, but we can always cab somewhere if need be. I have never been to Sentosa - not sure if this would be an option - or better to stay in Singapore as the threads I've read on Sentosa seem to be more family oriented ... and I'm leaving the kids home this time !?

Any suggestions would be very welcome please? Cheers

The Shangri-La Valley Wing, maybe? (Not the Sentosa property, but the other one...)

I like the Intercontinental close to raffles connected to Bugis Junction shopping and subway
Has a nice pool.

Raffles has a very nice pool as does the St Regis on the far end of Orchard Road. However, the styles of these two hotels are very different. Raffles is good for relaxing but the public areas of the hotel are mobbed with tourists (who are firmly stopped from entering the main building, corridors to rooms, Palm Court, etc.) Marina Bay Sands has an amazing huge and high pool, but otherwise I wouldn't suggest this hotel. For a W-like pool party scene, try the Fullerton Bay (not the same as the Fullerton) which is a new boutique hotel across the water from the Sands.

We checked out the pools at the hotels we stayed at in SG since we have kids as pool is like a 'must' for kids:

CP Changi - it has the most adult friendly pool - it's too deep for kids so it was very peace and quiet. The garden surrounding is nice.

IC Sin - ok pool - our kids were there for hours and there were other kids there too.

HI Orchard - roof top pool, a lot of kids there and I wouldn't spend a day relaxing there.

BIG pool at the Shangri La, but it's also a big hotel. Three wings - tower, garden and Valley. Whilst the Valley Wing is the super luxury wing and is effectively run as a separate hotel, you do share the pool with the rest of the hotel.
