Credit Card Programs - Citibank ThankYou Travel - 33% fewer points needed even for the cheapo cards?

So I'm aware that the more-expensive Citi TYP cards provide the benefit of cheaper travel redemptions ($400 ticket for 30K points). But I have the free ThankYou card, and so I was surprised to see this when I logged in to thankyou.com tonight:

Get more travel, for less
Your points are worth 33% more when you book flights through the ThankYou Travel Center.

Curious, I tried booking a couple sample flights. Nope, still seems like 1 point = 1 cent. Any idea what's going on? Just a mistakenly-shown notice in my account? Has anyone with the cheapo Citi TYP cards been able to book travel for 33% fewer points?

It is just a sloppy ad plastering the accounts across the board.

Only the Premier and the Prestige TYP cards have such benefits.

The free Preferred does not.

I logged into my account that does not have a Premier or Prestige card and I didn't even see that ad and the points redemption for travel is still the same as before.

Husbands account does have a Premier card and is eligible for the discounted redemption - also just as before....

I have both the Premier and Preferred. I can combine miles, but I need to use the Premier to book rewards. I also like the companion ticket. When I used it this year I saved $250 after the taxes were added on. I only got the Preferred because they offered me 50,000 TYP's after $2500 spend and double points on everything the 1st year.

Hmm, guess it's indeed just sloppy programming. Bummer.

I recently enrolled in CitiGold just to get the 40K TYP bonus, and I'm realizing that that makes me eligible for a no-fee TYP Premier. Might consider that now given the airfare discount...
