Marriott Rewards (including Ritz-Carlton) - What should I expect in Fairfield Inn as a Silver on Priceline rate?

I would appreciate some comments. I have never stayed at a Fairfield Inn. I am a Silver with Marriott and from what I understand I do not get upgrades, do I get anything worthy? Do they even recognize the lowly Silvers on a Priceline stay.

I did add my MR # to my reservation already.

Anything I could trade for to make my stay a little better at the Coupon Connection? I am heading straight to bed late Saturday night after a whole day of meetings and I will probably do use the late checkout http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I have about 10,000 MR points (if that makes any difference).

Thank you.

George

To answer your topic question of "what should I expect in Fairfield Inn as a Sliver on a Priceline rate?".....a room with a bed, desk, phone, bathroom, tv w/remote.

Fairfields are on the budget end of the Marriott spectrum. Clean, comfortable, basic, and fairly new in most cases.

Not sure where I'm going, but I'm gettting there fast.

Fairfield upgrades Silvers to suites on the concierge level and include free access to the hotel spa. Also, they kick in free tee times on the adjoining 18-hole championship course, with free drinks from the beverage cart.

To answer your question, you will get exactly the same thing as a Diamond staying on a full fare. You'll get the room, complete with thin walls and uncomfortable bed, with a bagel and juice downstairs in the morning. Fairfield does not have anything special to give or upgrade you to, even if they wanted to. You would get your bonus points for elite status if you were on a non-priceline rate. And if you paid with Visa, you could get the double night credit under the current promo (reg required).

But do I really get points? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks for all the comments, you confirmed what I suspected. All I care really is to have a comfortable bed in a clean and reasonably quiet room...

rmccamy: Thanks for your imaginative reply to my question, I am sure we all chuckled http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks again.

Diamond?

Would that be Hilton or Hyatt? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

I'm guessing you meant Platinum! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

And a great weekend to all! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Actually, you will see your name on the welcome board behind the counter when you check in.
I also had some luck to get upgrade to mini suite (Room with refrigator, bigger space). Ask nicely when yo check in, you never know.

Is this thread a joke or is it Apr 1 already (actually I have had some very nice laughs so far).

The rooms at the Anaheim Fairfield Inn are, alas, neither comfortable nor quiet. Pillows are like rocks (FF's fault). Rude guests allow their children to screech and stomp till after midnight (not FF's fault, but hard to take nonetheless).

Allright guys. I have decided to do a trip report from my stay at the glorious Fairfield Inn at Ft. Myers, FL next Saturday. I will be writing it from the conscierge lounge after having downed the eleventh french toast and fourth cup of cappucino. Of course before I leave I will have the opportunity to use the spa again (complimentary of course). Boy, I am going to miss the suite they will upgrade me into, and especially the jaccuzi...

Of course I paid with Visa for my one local phonecall in order to receive double points and double stay credit for the recent promotion...

All of that for $38.47 (after tax)...Ilovethiscountry http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

On a slightly more serious note: I *did* get an upgrade from a Fairfield once.

We were checking into the FF at MIA - it was one of those FF/Courtyard/Res.Inn combos. The only FF rooms left were smoking rooms, and the clerk was able to hook us up with a nonsmoking Courtyard room - same rate. So I guess that's sort of an "upgrade", although the Courtyard at that particular location is in no jeopardy of being confused for a Ritz-Carlton. Still, it was nice of them, and we didn't have to deal with a smoking room...

Also on a serious note, I also know of a few Fairfields that do have Jacuzzi Suites (i.e. Fairfield Las Colinas - DFW area). I've never been "upgraded" to one of these (never tried), but I am assuming that it would be possible.

I have also been offered a King room with a refrigerator, microwave, etc. instead of a standard King with my status. Not sure how much of an upgrade that is, but it was nice for under $50 a night.
