Hi everyone, so I am trying to book 3 F seats for my family going from TPE or ICN to FRA with UA mileage plus. On UA's website, I can book 3 F seats on Asiana, but I have heard Thai Airways' F is even better. Here lies the problem, there is only 2 seats available in F with availability in J as well. I'm thinking about taking the risk and book 2 seats in Thai F and 1 in J and hope that another F seat will open up. Can any tell me what the probability of another F seat opening up is?

And may I ask who told you TG F is better than OZ F ?
OZ F wins everything except for the seat, and OZ F seat is not bad neither just lack of privacy if compare to TG new F.

Both airlines have a good F overall.
The Thai seat on the 777 is the best, Asiana next and Thai 747 last.
Service on Asiana is better than Thai
The lounge in BKK is better than in ICN.
But overall the differences are not big enough to warrant the risk of ending up in Business.

If you are using United's website to find available flights for award travel, be aware that there are MANY instances of partner award flights showing as available, but they are not able to be booked. This "phantom availability" has been a problem for some time.
Thai usually has pretty good award availability, but I would be surprised if Asiana has released 3 First Class award seats on the same flight.
I highly recommend you call United to confirm availability before you get to far into the planning / comparison process.
A couple of the many threads from the UA forum....

While it is legitimately debatable which F product is better, if you can find 3 F on one carrier vs. 2F/1C+waitlist on the other, take the one where all can be seated in F. The small differences do not justify the risk that one person will sit in C.

what if on Thai the F is on the 77W with the new suites? would that make a difference to anyone's opinion? thanks

Thai's 77W C hard produce is really nice, IMO, but F is F, and there's absolutely no guarantee TG will open up more F inventory.

If I had a choice I would go with Asiana, the service is brilliant. I dislike the suites, but this a personal thing. I enjoy the theatre of flying, the expectations of food as you see the crew in the galley and their comings and goings as they look after the cabin.

When is the flight for? I believe TG will be servicing BKK-FRA in their new A380s with the new F seats.
Like others mentioned, OZ and TG have their own strengths..
Hard Product: TG's 77W > OZ's 747.
Soft Product: OZ > TG
Lounge: TG > OZ.
What equipment is the GDS showing for the BKK-FRA route? I assume OZ will have the 747 operating the ICN-FRA route.

I'm looking to travel next June, it is showing currently as the 77W, which I know the lease with Jet Air expires Oct/Nov. Will the new A380 have better seats than the current suites? I have heard that the 77W suites are starting to show its age. Thanks

The 77W suites are definitely showing their age which I noticed in March when I flew BKK-NRT.
The A380 suites look pretty nice! It's definitely an upgrade from the F seat on the 744.
Here are a few pictures and there is a link to a video in the bottom of the article.

Go Asiana F. Thai F might be marginally better but you have guaranteed OZ availability NOW.

No point in comparing lounges as TG lounges outside of BKK are poor.
Having just suffered a horrible long haul F flight on TG I would say the quality has really diminished. OZ is a certain bet for a first class experience.
