United MileagePlus (Consolidated) - Minimum Miles on USAirways vs USAirways Express

I did several searches - apologize if I missed the relevant thread. A colleague recently flew a roundtrip from DCA to Burlington VT (BTV) on USAirways. The routing was as follows -
Segment 1 - DCA/LGA
Segment 2 - LGA/BTV
Segment 3 - BTV/PHL
Segment 4 - PHL/DCA
He credited the miles to his UA MP account. He received actual miles flown for segments 2, 3, and 4 but for segment 1, he received the famous 500-mile minimum.
We tried to figure out what was different about segment 1 and the only thing we could come up with was the following - segment 1 is a "regular" USAirways flight while the other three segments were USAirways Express.
Is that the reason for the difference or is there something else we are missing? I know some years ago, USAirways changed their rules from the 500 mile minimum to actual miles but I was wondering if they changed it back for just USAirways "regular" (non-express) flights.
Thanks.

Maybe it has something to do that this is shuttle flight? Can't think of anything else.

You are absolutely correct. After reading your post, I went to the Dividend Miles rules about earning credits and there it was, right near the top -
Airline Mileage Credit
2. Travel on US Airways Shuttle flights qualifies all members for the 500 mile segment minimum for each segment flown.
Thanks for the quick explanation.

I always get 500 minimum on all segments on US air or US air express. I am US air chairman.

I don't see where you get this from the UA site. Do you have a direct link. The old Continental site has this verbiage but I don't see it on the new site.

On UA, you can now see that US flights no longer get you the 500 mile guaranteed minimum. I recently had a US flight that proved it in my account. UA used to credit 500 miles minimum if you were premier on a flight on US.
Since the miles credit have to originate from US, maybe you found a "corner case" where a US shuttle flight is credited at 500 miles. That's a good find!
I used to even get 500 miles for the 82 miles between CLT and GSO. That was nice. But, I'm flying that route again on US Express . . . and I bet I only get 82 this time. :td:

Does anybody have a recent experience using the US shuttle and crediting miles to MileagePlus? Is there a 500 miles minimum? If not does the flight earn PQS? Relevant booking class in my case would be L going LGA-DCA.
Thanks!

In October I took several US BOS/LGA flights. Received 500 minimum RDM for some but not others. Probably the same for PQMs. Don't know my booking class.

Last June, I took the US Shuttle RT between DCA and BOS and applied the miles to UA. On the first flight, the class was U, and I earned 399 miles and 500 PQS. On the return, the class was K, and I earned 500 miles and 500 PQS.

It is still earning actual miles per my last few flights. I did EWR-PHL-DTW last month and earned the actual miles. Am doing it again today and will post in a few days what I get. I have confirmed it with both US and UA that it is actual flown miles.

Thanks for the update. Any additional experience around the Shuttle flights. Mileage posting seems to be inconsistent.

flew the US shuttle two weeks ago - LGA-DCA-LGA. for each leg, i only received 214 miles and 214 miles 1K bonus - and the PQM was also 214.
i wrote the 1K desk asking when the 500 mile minimum was changed because i received the 500 minimum last year on the shuttle - received the following note back:
The change was supposed to have been in effect as on March 3 however the programming was not updated until June 1. All flights through May 31 on US Airways received the 500-mile minimum.
are others still getting the 500 minimum? should i push this further?

I flew DCA-BOS (399 miles) a couple of weeks ago on the US Shuttle and only got actual mileage flown and not the 500 mile minimum.

Thanks everybody. Can I assume that you did get 1 PQS despite the fact that you didn't get the 500 mi credit?
