Asiana Club - Chance of getting an up to Diamond from Gold?
Best way to find out is to ask Asiana directly, but thought asking FTers here of their opinions.
After my trip in early Sept. I will be short of 696 miles from being Diamond. But, already booked 2 more flights from PVG - ICN return in end of Sept. & PVG - SIN one way in middle of Oct. As they can see my advanced booking in their system, would they up my status for Diamond at their discretion? :p
In my opinion, OZ provides good, but inflexible service, so I am doubtful that you will receive status early. Do post if you are successful.
Will post it whatever the outcome is going to be. See how whether my approach works at ICN airport Asiana club desk. ;)
OZ employees typically go strictly by the book. Being your PVG-ICN flight is less than the 696 miles needed, I doubt you'll have any luck with that flight. For your PVG-SIN flight, there might be a way. Before when I did online checkin for a domestic flight, it appeared in the system that they already gave me credit for the flight before I actually flew it. I don't know if it was some glitch with my particular situation, or whether it works for both domestic and international flights. But if I were you, I'd try to do online checkin shortly before your flight and then when you get to the airport see if you're recognized as Diamond or not.

My last flight in June for PEK-GMP-CJU-ICN-PVG, I noticed OZ credited mileage for whole sectors in advance even before I took flights when I checked in at PEK.
I will do an online check in few days before the departure date as you have suggested. Thanks for the suggestion. ^
Mileage when flying OZ is always accounted for at check-in and before you actually fly. The mileage is updated on the BP.
So I guess for the OP you would be Diamond for the first segment and I would collect the new rosy card right after checking-in !

Good news for me to use the benefits even before actually reaching the 40k.
Rosy card??? Not my fav colour for a card!

Yes this a very straightforward pink, certainly to prod those easy new *G members to upgrade to the burgundy D+ card !:p
