Couple traveling to Portugal in September for 10 days. We want to balance culture with surfing in some of the coastal areas. Any recommendations on good itineraries and locations to visit? We have lots of Starwood points and are open to where to spend our time. Suggestions and tips are appreciated.

Do you have an itinerary in mind? Do you know how to surf? Will you have your equipment or will you need to rent a board+wet suit?

the link points to the coast around Peniche where surf geek friends spend an awful lot of weekend. But if you pedal back through the site you can find quite detailed information on what to expect from other parts of Portugal's Atlantic coastline.
The Peniche area is strong on places to see and visit without your wetsuits: Lisbon is an hour or so away, the medieval market town of Obidos is nearby, and there's even an archipelago of quite wild and islands to visit (the Berlengas). If you are a comfort lover the bonus is a smart resort nearby at Praia D'el Rey, with a Marriott resort on site. Otherwise vila rental might be the way to go.
