Is this anything new? Nottingham Nick Aug 1, 12, 1:32 pm It's probably been there for a couple of years now - if you search back in this forum, you will find a few threads about it. Some months ago, the VS Facebook team were asked if there were any plans to end the 'temporary' policy, but they weren't aware of any plans for it to change. :td: Nick Flying Bat Aug 1, 12, 2:37 pm thanks LondonMiles Aug 2, 12, 6:15 am It's such a shame. I would love to put some Virgin miles towards a Singapore Airlines business class trip. Flying Bat Aug 2, 12, 11:59 am Yes business on SIN is worthwhile. Luckily there are other rewarad options to make this possible :) slinky09 Aug 3, 12, 2:15 am Note that it was SIA who made this decision not VS. They also determined initially that *A partners could not redeem miles for J and F suite flights on their new 777s and A380s - although I understand they now are allowing that. It's odd that they didn't lift the restriction on Flying Club, especially since SIA owns 49% of VS! slinky09 Aug 3, 12, 2:16 am Yes business on SIN is worthwhile. Luckily there are other rewarad options to make this possible :) Flew LHR-SIA-MNL-SIA-LHR in J on SIA a few months ago and it was one of the dullest trips I've ever flown. Food has average too. What would be your preferred J class routing to Singapore / Far East Asia? I've only done it in Y class before. And yeah I've always thought it odd that that the *A partners can redeem on Singapore Airlines sometimes (although not for suites unless there is a change of aircraft) yet Virgin can't. When BMI was owned by Lufthansa, there was fairly decent award availability for their members to get awards on Singapore, but I found out about this too late. slinky09 Aug 3, 12, 4:10 am What would be your preferred J class routing to Singapore / Far East Asia? I've only done it in Y class before. Actually probably SIA even though I wasn't enamoured of it. The A380 to Singapore is a great way to fly and the connections are good. Oh and you get good VS TPs and miles too. I don't know but can you book Qantas just to Singapore, I'd love to try that? I haven't been on the new Cathay J class, the last version was dreadful, really tight seating and a poorly conceived cabin. The new one looks much better but not sure if it's on all aircraft yet. LondonMiles Aug 3, 12, 8:58 am I'll definitely have to try the SQ A380 at some point. I'll probably go for a redemption via *A miles in the next couple of years. You can book Qantas just to Singapore. I might have to look into that that as for some reason I had never really considered it. I have heard good things about the new J class on Cathay Pacific as well. Will probably put some Avios towards that if I go to Hong Kong. |
