Other Middle East and Africa Frequent Flyer Programs - Best Seats in SAA Business for Tall (6'4") Passenger

I flew SAA from JNB to CPT several years ago in Business--it happened to be the continuation of an international flight, so I got to experience an A340. It was very nice for the 2 hour flight, but I seem to recall that in the lie flat position, it was a bit short compared to other lie flat seats.

Reviewing their website, it indicates a pitch of 73" (6'1"") on both the A340-300/600. With the hard shells of these seats, I'm afraid this might be difficult (I'm not a side sleeper) to fit my 6'4" frame comfortably in these seats for sleeping.

Two questions:
1. Does anyone know if there are any seats (perhaps bulkhead/last row) that offer extra space or have other suggestions?
2. I have the option of flying to JNB from either IAD or JFK, so if there are any pitch differences between the 340-300 (IAD) and 600 (JFK), would be interested in that as well.

Thanks in advance.

I am 6'2" and I find the bulkhead seats to be the most comfortable in the lie-flat position of the seat. In the other rows, my feet are touching the seat in front of me. I fly the JFK-JNB route quite often.

I tend to find the seat row makes no difference. Only downside to bulkhead is the absence of storage for shoes below the seat in front of you, and the place for the toiletries.

Sometimes the overhead lockers are also short spaced.

No difference in actual seat between 300 and 600 series.

I prefer JFK flight
