I'll have to visit a couple of clients in Irvine & Huntington Beach on a Monday
Is there any luxury hotel in the area ?
I love the FS BW but believe it's a little far (per French standards :o) from Irvine / Huntington Beach
I'll arrive in LA on saturday morning and would like to stay in the same hotel until I leave on Tuesday
Merci very much
FSBH is really not practical for visiting clients in Irvine and Huntington Beach. With traffic you are talking 90 min + torture drive each way!
I suggest staying at either Montage in Laguna Beach - gorgeous resort property or Pelican Hill on Newport Coast which is also lovely. Newport Coast is a bit more convenient. Montage is a beach property, whereas Pelican Hill is across the road from the beach but high up with gorgeous views. Both are definately luxury. If you want something more urban there is the Island Hotel in Newport Beach which is a former Four Seasons, but it cannot compare with FSBH or the other two resorts. I would not really consider it true luxury, just one of the better urban hotels in that area. I would go for montage or pelican hill especially if you can carve out a few hours for yourself to enjoy the properties. The advantage of Montage is you are right in Laguna Beach where you can enjoy the resort and the town. Pelican Hill is more isolated, but probably more convenient location to your meetings. Of course you need a car to get just about everywhere in this area so I don't think it really matters! Just depends on your preferences!

Agree with Larkin. Another option, maybe 15 minutes further down the road, would be the Ritz Carlton, Laguna Niguel. In Irvine your only options are the large mid/low range chain hotels.

Agree Pelican Hill and Montage are your best options. Pelican Hill is probably 10-15 minutes closer to Irvine and HB but Montage is generally regarded higher. I would not stay at the Island Hotel unless I had a specific reason like a corporate rate.
Keep in mind summer traffic on PCH can be brutal through Laguna and Corona del Mar.
Also, if you're a golfer Pelican Hill has a beautiful course.

You largely nailed it. The Montage is probably the best choice. I think Pelican Hill is a tad isolated. I lived in that area for 12 years and I would probably go to a boutique hotel near the Balboa Pier in Newport anyway.
I would add that you are going to a beach area in southern California during peak season. You are going to spend a lot of time in your car getting anywhere. This would lead me to a lesser hotel in downtown Laguna Beach or the Marriott at Fashion Island. I sincerely doubt you can get from the FSBH to South Coast Plaza in 90 minutes. I'd budget 120 minutes at least. It takes 20-30 minutes to get to 405 from the FSBH.
It could take 30-40 minutes or more to get to the 405 from the Montage, making it a 60 minute drive to HB. Don't even try this via PCH. Laguna Beach is quite far off the beaten path. This would might make Newport a better choice.
Use the toll road to get to/from the 133. It is worth every penny.

Ah, I thought you meant this Saturday-Tuesday. Traffic won't be as bad on PCH but Laguna is still out of the way.

That'll be a nice time to be there , not ' busy ' & you should enjoy your choices ( there are good restaurants within short drives too :) ) & visit.

There was a regular free summer bus service that ran along the highway south of the rc,passing the montage and into laguna beach.Great service if it still runs.
