Frontier Airlines EarlyReturns - Colorado Day Sale

Although there are ongoing sales of various types left and right, the Colorado Day sale is usually among the very cheapest all year. Good opportunity to do segement / mile runs if needed, or to travel cheaply for the actual purpose of traveling someplace...(imagine that!)

MKE-DCA one-way fare of about $47, including taxes and fees.

Fare is valid Tue, Wed, and Sat, most weeks from now thru December.

Thanks for catching that low MKE-DCA fare. Both Frontier and AirTran have this fare -- under $100 round trip including all taxes and fees. I really wonder who started this and who is only following the competition. This type of fare is fantastic for travelers but nuts for the air carrier. When you strip off taxes and fees, the airline's fare revenue is $35.35. Compare that to very similar MKE-BWI, a route with no competition, where the best advance-purchase nontop base airfare with taxes/fees stripped off is $108.84 on FL/WN. That's more than triple.

Certailny not every seat will sell for this fare, and four days each week this fare isn't available. But to say this sort of fare is remarkable is an understatement.

Even on Thursday and Friday the fare only goes up to about $57 o/w. I doubt both carriers will be on this route for long.

The fare, exclusive of taxes/fees, works out to about $.055 per air mile. :eek:

I doubt both carriers will be on this route for long.
