Amazing news!
THX for posting, maxbluebrosche!
I got it too. But 50000 miles + the 50000 mile bonus is $1750. I'm not sure if that's a great value....

here is the text:

Not sure if it is targeted but here it is.

I just got two R/T J rewards from BOS-FRA-LYS for $100K mi each. That seems to be a great value.
I would consider using the ANA / AC search tools to see if there are any J saver awards out there that you might want in the next 330 days. If one is open, this is a very cheap way to get a J seat.

Is $1750 the exact price for 100K miles? Are there any other fees involved with the transfer?
I'm actually considering it for econ tickets to europe, but only saves me $100 - 150 or so. But thats better than nothing :)
I think it is the exact price. I only went as far as choosing 50,000 miles and watching the automatic calculation. I didn't go the next step of confirming the purchase.
I'd rather wait and see if the GS promo is announced this month. It's a much cheaper way to accumulate lots of miles....

When I bought in June they hit it with a 7.5% tax, putting it to $1881

Yes...and the terms and conditions say that this tax applies now, too.

I got it too. Had to log in using DM# - so perhaps it's targeted. I'll probably bite on this one.
I have to say though, the pending OW merger adds some uncertainty to the value/usability of these miles going forward. If Star was a guaranteed thing under our current rules, I'd have less hesitation.

There is some uncertainty, but AA redemption options are actually quite good. They allow for one-way awards and there were some last minute "low" awards left on BA for J/F travel to Europe in June 2012 when Star Alliance was essentially sold out. Now if US decides to join Skyteam, that's anther story...

It is targeted for sure, tried to buy it for my dad and mom, did not work. I bought mine 50000+50000, just too bad they charge us Canadians that extra taxes.

Where has it been reported that there could be a O/W merger?

The website states the following message:
Thank you for redeeming your Dividend Miles this year!
So I assume in order to be targeted, you must have purchased something using your Dividend Miles. Not sure if using your miles to purchase something now will give you access to the sale though.

Nothing for me, either:(

$1881.25 is the total.
If this August promo is targeted for people who have redeemed their miles, then I will not be eligible to buy any more since I bought DM in the June promo! I was hoping I would be able to buy some more to have enough for a trip to Australia from London.

I redeemed my miles last month for SQ F travel (today actually) and was targeted... not sure if I will take them up on this offer though. I bought miles at the old price last year. Still waiting for GS 2012 to start up (hopefuly)

The offer is targeted and more so than just to those who redeemed miles. Show of hands as to whether all who got it were also credit card holders?
The US Airways Cardinals and Bean Counters have been busy so I expect the Ol' Ball Game will be changed this year.

so both my wife and I bought the max 50K miles during the june promo and redeemed miles in July and I got this offer and she did not.

I got the offer as well when I login to my account.
I redeemed in May in First. I used my United Visa for the purchased.
Not sure if I will take the plunged though. I’m wondering about devaluing of the miles if the merger happens.

I got the offer - but i dont have a US Airways Creditcard.
But i bought and redeemed miles this year as well as last year.
Didn't get the email but logged in and got the 100% bonus offer. I did redeem this year and it appears that is the reason I got it.

Where has it been reported that there could be a O/W merger?
The post you replied to that used the words "pending merger" might have implied that the merger with AA, a O/W member, is all but complete. In fact, all the stories that have been reported over the past 8 months simply reiterate two facts: 1.) US CEO wants the merger 2.) AA CEO wants AA to remain standalone.
As for this topic, if you buy miles now and there is a merger, it's highly likely your AA and US accounts will be merged and miles combined. The challenge with booking OW travel on AA now is that almost every option online routes you on BA or IB. And booking any awards on BA flights that route through the UK have very large taxes/surcharges imposed. It is better to call and try to route on another partner with lower surcharges.
Star Alliance bookings using US miles on something like LH, SQ or LX have comparatively much lower surcharges for similar itineraries.

I was wondering the same thing. Redeemed a 400 mile magazine subscription to see if it would target the offer. It did NOT. Not ready to pull the trigger on an award ticket, so I guess I will miss out on this one.

I redeemed a *A award last week (August 2nd) and don't get the offer. I will check back in a week.
I have access to another account that redeemed earlier this year, and it's visible there.
Wondering if I can switch accounts after I get the offer on the Buy page :) It's probably better to wait a few days anyway.

Hi, is there anyway I could buy these miles without being targeted? I urgently need to top up an account for redemption. Thanks.
