Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - CX mileage run: HKG-TPE-PVG return

Need some advice from the CX gurus on how to complete a 6 sector (or more) mileage run in one weekend.

I am based in HKG, and I keep hearing about the HKG-TPE-PVG runs, but there are no direct flights from TPE to PVG, so presumably its HKG-TPE-HKG-PVG-HKG-TPE-HKG.

What is the best way of going about pricing these tickets?

i would recommend this:

Friday: HKG-TPE
Saturday: TPE-HKG-MNL-HKG-TPE
Sunday: TPE-HKG-MNL-HKG

that would give you 8 flights over one weekend.

if you only need 6 flights, you can do:

Friday: HKG-TPE
Saturday: TPE-HKG-MNL-HKG-TPE
Sunday: TPE-HKG

buy your tickets ex-TPE (except for the first HKG-TPE on Friday) and stay at the airport Novotel at TPE.

TPE-MNL is much cheaper than TPE-PVG and the flight is shorter with a very quick turnaround (40 minutes or so). MNL is less prone to delays than PVG and you take the same plane back.

how did these go? are you using these just to get the number of legs up? I am too trying to figure out cheap ways to make mileage runs on cathay from HKG.

Can you, on your SUNDAY do TPE-HKG-MNL-HKG-TPE-HKG?
the last TPE-HKG on Sunday is return leg of Friday's HKG-TPE.
that gives you 10 sectors.

Just priced it up:
TPE-MNL return on V-class is HK$3200 all inclusive.
HKG-TPE return on V-class is HK$2600 all inclusive

So 10 sector comes at 3200+3200+2600 = HK$9000.
2 nights hotel, at Novotel, I priced it at US$210, or say 1500 HKD

So 10 sectors all for 10500 HKD.

As a comparison, HKG-JFK return on L class is 13k HKD and gives you 16k Asiamiles which is also roughly half required for Silver qualification....

How much is HKG-CAN? For that distance I can't imagine it to be too expensive.
