Hi FTs,
I am confused with the wording on alaskaair.com website regarding free check in baggage.
I have the platinum citi advantage visa cc, however the agent checking me in doesn't know anything about the first 2 bags free.
Can someone clarify this for me before i call alaska airlines?
Thanks

Alaska doesn't offer free baggage as a benefit to their own AS Signature Visa credit card holders, so it's highly unlikely that free bags are a benefit extended to some unassociated credit card. Not sure where you got this information from; perhaps you are referring to a reimbursement benefit? You can see the details of all AS baggage charges and waivers here:

No; see baliktad's answer immediately above. No CC waives baggage fees on AS, and certainly not any partner cards. Your DL card likely only works on DL anyway, and any AA card that offers free baggage likely only works on AA.

No, but maybe Costco membership does. But only Executive level.

My mother lives near the Alaska Airlines headquarters. Does that qualify her for free baggage?

Does the AMEX include a free beverage then? ;)
I can see how the OP could be confused by the wording on the AS website. Not everyone knows the difference between AA Plat status and an AA Plat credit card.
That being said, it would be nice to get free bags when achieving the Starbucks Rewards Gold level.

Just spoke to Alaska airlines, free bags pertain to Aadvantage elite status (gold, platinum, executive platinum)...

Are we looking at the same page? The page I look at has no reference to AA Plat, just AA elite. That being said, I threw away my Starbucks Gold card cause i didn't really see any value to it, I just kept using the red card, prehaps I should reconsider!

You gotta use the mobile card app! Now that *bux is part of *A, you can cash in 100,000 stars for a SWU. ^

Fair enough, I followed the link earlier in the thread, which didn't reference any medal levals. I supose someone could get hopeful and confused by this link.
Now, AS is a Safeway/Carrs partner right? Maybe insted of fuel rewards we can get baggage rewards? Double points on Safeway Select, quintuple if you use your AS visa card? maybe that would make up for....oh hell, I'm not going to go there!
