I am currently Marriott platinum and was wondering which hotels in Paris/London
would be a good choice for these benefits using award points. Thanks.

Love Le parc trocadero in Paris. Not flashy like CE but staff is lovely location can't be beat. We stay there 3/4 times a year

That is sort of a weird question - you should really focus on choosing hotels that you feel are in a good location and offer amenities you really want. Being Plat or Gold doesn't affect the quality of the hotel. Some hotels have better concierge lounges, however in my opinion, you should put that at #3 or #4 on your list when ranking hotels.

While some may say that one hotel offers a better chance of an upgrade, this is not guaranteed, and if you base your choice of this one item, and it doesn't happen, it will be in the back of your mind the whole trip.

With that being said, I enjoy the JW Grosvenor House in London a lot. The Marriott Grosvenor Square is also very nice, however, they have smaller rooms.

My wife and I will be in Paris for seven nights in early September. We have chosen the Category Seven Rive Gauche for our stay. Each of the Category Eight properties is requiring a cash surcharge of 80 to 100 Euros per night, on top of the MR points, for a basic room.

Also, the Rive Gauche appears to have a lounge which is open seven days.

each of the 3 Cat 8 London props are charging a surcharge since they are offering upgraded rooms................. if you want a std room without the guaranteed upgrade you don't need to pay the surcharge.............

Completely agree, particularly with Paris and London. You will spend most of your time out visiting the city, rather than sat in the lounge. e.g. in Paris make sure you get out and eat in a local restaurant - much better than hotel food.

There are plenty of threads about the merits of Marriotts in both London and Paris.

London hotels are usually pretty good about upgrading elites. If someone's Gold/Plat I wouldn't bother paying a surcharge. And by September, all the London activity ;) will be over.

To the OP. Asking which hotels are better without providing any details is a bit of an exercise in futility. You need to provide more information re: what you're looking for, what you'll be doing, areas you want to be in, etc, etc.

Re: both Paris & London. There are a LOT of threads on both London & Paris properties. You can do a search (upper right corner of this forum) or you can check the FAQ in this forum, as hhoope01 has put together links to various reports via cities, etc, and that will take you to some specific threads to review.

Cheers.
