Hi has anyone done a first / business class booking via the emirates site?
Trying to book Syd - DXB (first)
then DXB to Venice (business)
Return ...using multiple destinations booking
.. but the emirates site says unable to book such a fare...I've done such a thing with Syd - DXB business and DXB to venice economy...so not sure why I can't do first / business multiple class multiple destination booking

Unlike EY, not aware of any EK mixed F/J fares. There has been the mixed J/Y fares this is why you could book them.
You won't be able to price this sometimes as the departure and end points are different and nothing to do with class of travel which can be mixed.
I've always been knocked back trying to book mixed classes on one leg (treating DXB-VCE as one leg). If you succeed it might entail booking two seperate journeys in/out of DXB which would be much more expensive.
Mixing classes between outbound and inbound is OK.
It worked for me once, MCT-DXB-BEY, where MCT-DXB was J because F was not offered; DXB-BEY was F. The fare was F.

Yes that can still be done I think if one of the sectors you are flying does not offer F but you ask for F class all the way you are automatically given the highest class, which is J, for routes only served by 2-class arrangement.
In this case of course DXB-VENICE is a 3-class segment so you have to book either F all the way or J all the way

If you have enough miles book J all the way and upgrade to F for SYD-DXB. That seems to be the only viable option. Booking 2 separate tickets might prove more expensive than booking F all the way since fares Ex-DXB are exorbitant for premium classes on EK

Normally when I have tried something that doesn't "work" it just upgrades the offending segment to the higher class (in the OP's case showing an itinerary all in F rather than J for DXB-VCE) rather than the site giving an error message..
thanks.
Yes it just kept giving me a price in F. (2 Adults, 1 infant)
But SYD - DXB - VCE (return) in J = $16425 AUD
SYD - DXB - VCE (F) and return in J = $21000 AUD
SYD - DXB - VCE (F) and return in F = $25500 AUD
Not enough points I'm afraid so wondering if the F class experience is worth the $5-6k extra
thanks.

If you can comfortably afford the extra $5k, definitely. J is just about ok on EK. It's about the small comforts and more space, nothing luxurious. F is a whole world apart!

I don't think that DXB-VCE-DXB leg is worth extra for F class. On the other hand if you choose to fly to FCO instead you can get on 777 or 380 with a proper F class suite :). Then you fly local AlItalia 1hour flight to VCE for about 150-200$ per peron- economy :p
But at least you'll experience the true F class ;)
just my 2.7 cents :D
