Le Club Accorhotels - Any experience with Mercure Nelspruit, South Africa?

Has anyone stayed at the Mercure in Nelspruit, South Africa? How is it? How much is a taxi from the airport to the hotel? Is it better to ask the hotel to send a car?

Are there any codes for discounts akin to AAA or Senior rates?

Stayed 2 nights a year ago - perfectly standard Mercure. I had a car so don't know about the transport from the airport. If you don't have wheels there is a mall 200m away so you are not restricted to the hotel restaurant for meals. If I remember correctly internet was expensive - like many SA hotels it was a 3rd party provider and you paid by the hour.

If you are not wedded to Mercure have a look at https://www.bid2stay.co.za/ for the Town Lodge and see if the dates available coincide with your stay

Reception was pleasant and well organised, room a little down-market from Mercures in other countries, but I suspect it was one of the better hotels in Nelspruit. Rooms accessed from outside, car parked just outside, motel-style.

I think I paid around 600ZAR a few months ago, booked on the accor website and felt it was good value.

Breakfast was much cheaper at a nearby mall that it would be at the hotel.

Sorry, can't help with the taxi cost, but I'm sure the hotel will let you know if you phone or email.
