Dumb idea, now they will just leave grannie to hold onto the ten chairs and pull off the stickers every 39 minutes.
But it is most certainly better than just ignoring the practice and letting people do it.
I think 15 minutes would be way better than 40, but it's a start.

Yes but 15 minutes is too short if you have to go to the bathroom, want to get a drink, etc. Can you imagine the scene at the bar with people jiggling madly looking at their watches?

Don't care how long a towel is left on a deckchair.
If I want the spot, I'll take it. The towel goes on the floor. Argue the toss later.
People who think they can reserve ....ing sunloungers all day long are a feral underclass. Really gets on my nuts.

Went on a Carnival cruise a couple of years back.
chairs next to were coverd in a towel but hadn't seen anybody there for a couple of hours. Guy comes along, picks up the towel and throws it over the side and says "let them reserve that!"
bit of an argument later.....

Good on him. There are stories about Teutonic dawn mass peregrinations to beach/deck chairs in many resorts to do this type of "reservation" which is subsequently never utilized by the reserver.
Sounds like a good policy by Carnival.

It's nice to see they are at least trying something. Idiots that think the chair is theirs for the day need to be taught some respect. On the other hand, you also shouldn't be tied to your chair at the risk of losing it. If I get up to go pee, I shouldn't lose it to someone like the dude up a couple posts who doesn't care.
