Finnair Plus - LGA to Finnair JFK flights

Hi all,

I am currently looking to purchase the following tickets and I have some questions on connection from LGA to JFK.

AA4468 YUL 08:00 LGA 09:35
AY006 JFK 17:45 HEL 08:50

I believe I would need to take my luggage upon arrival at LGA and take it to JFK for the Finnair flight, is it right? When will Finnair check-in open for AY 006 flight?

I have been sitting on top of my luggage (due to either AA or LA not being able to produce one of the simpliest alliance things = luggage interlining on one ticket) at JFK a couple of times when waiting for AY6 check in to open...from experience it usually opens ~3-3,5hrs prior to departure, even though they talk about 4...within the US the interlining works ok, my bad experiences are when connecting from South America and/or Caribbean.

Yes, you will need to claim your luggage at LGA and transfer you and it to JFK (either via cab or bus).

Why fly to LGA? You can fly AA direct to JFK or fly YUL-ORD-HEL on AA....
Would make everything a lot easier?

Agreed. The transfer from LGA to JFK is no fun and going to be expensive. Now if you can do a stopover and get a couple nights in New York, by all means!

Yup. LGA and JFK are two separate airports, not even in the same city. If you insist on making that transfer, call either ELITE or DIAL7 when you are ready and they will send a car around in under 5 mins. You can take a cab or bus if you want.

If flights are already booked and I were in your shoes I'd head for the Chinatown in Flushing Meadows for a nice and leisure lunch and transfer to JFK by taxi around 2pm before heavy traffic...about 35-40usd and takes 20-30mins.

Which cities do you think they are in? Geographically and politically they are not only in the same city but in the same borough within that city (and on the same landmass, which cannot be said to be true for much of New York City).

There is regular shuttle service (http://www.panynj.gov/airports/lga-airport-connections.html) among the 3 NYC airports. LGA-JFK is $13, I believe.

It appears that you land at 9:35 AM at depart LGA at 5:45 PM. If this is correct, you have plenty of time to take the different buses to NYC to enjoy the day and take one of the buses or subway to JFK. The links below will provide you with enough information to make the right choice. By the way, LGA and JFK are located in the same city and the distance between the two airports are 19.17 KM. I know because I live 5 minutes away from LGA and I make the trip to JFK periodically when my friends visit me. Good luck and fly safe!
