United MileagePlus (Consolidated) - Upgrade for a LH flight?

I'm flying SFO-NCE in a few days and wanted to see if anyone had any advice on getting an upgrade to business class. I have two tickets, Q tickets for there and U tickets for return.

Here is my current UA status if it helps:

Mileage Balance: 224,066
Expiration: 12/31/2013
MileagePlus Status Level: Premier Platinum
Star Alliance Status Level: Gold
Regional Premier Upgrades: 2
Global Premier Upgrades: 0



Clicking the Upgrade button on the LH site gets me the following message: "Unfortunately we cannot complete your upgrade booking due to technical reasons. Please contact the relevant Miles & More Service Team. (119401)"


Any advice on how to use any miles / save some money for the upgrade is greatly appreciated.

Any advice on how to use any miles / save some money for the upgrade is greatly appreciated.There are only two ways for a UA MP member to get an upgrade on a LH operated flight
-- *A mileage upgrade -- requires Y/B or D fare to upgrade
-- "paper" GPU (SWU) -- requires requesting UA issue a paper GPU and presenting that to LH on the day of travel

As a Plat you do not to have a GPU but you may be able to have a friend with GPUs sponsor you. With Q/U fares you will not be able to do a mileage upgrade.
