Being a medal contender has its perks. Just ask female rider Lee Wai-sze, who was upgraded to first class on her flight to London from Guangzhou.
Hong Kong coach Shen Jinkang revealed that Lee, a medal hope in the women's cycling track events and Hong Kong flag-bearer in the opening ceremony on Saturday, was bumped up to first class after the airline found out who she was.
"The airline knew Lee was a medal contender from Hong Kong and upgraded her to first class [from economy] so she would get better rest and enjoy a better flight," said the coach. "The responsibility of a flag-bearer is huge as it recognises one's achievements.

Presumably she was training in China, but did our flag bearer not take our flag carrier? :D
