Hi all

Possibly a simple question here. I am trying to find award availability on an AA flight. Can a QFF member access the same award flights on AA as an AA member?

Thanks
LF

The best way to find the answer to this is to join AAdvantage (it's free) and cross-check the awards on QFF and AA. In general a MileSAAver economy award on AA will also show up on QFF.

You can also join Awardnexus (free for a limited number of searches) and have a look at availability.

Dunno ... you can certainly book on AA with QFF points.

I'd look for T class with Expert Flyer.

Thanks to both of you. The city pair for which I am looking (TUL-LAX) is not searchable on the Qantas website. I can see award availability on the AA website and on ExpertFlyer, both in T class. When I call Qantas to book it, they do not see the availability. So I am not sure if she made a mistake or if indeed AA shows different T-class availability to AA members than to their OW partners. As an aside, the routing that the AA website shows availability for is not direct so this is one possible reason why QF is not finding it.

It varies.Usually if I see a milesAAver award on AA mrsdrron can see it on QF as a WP.
However there are exceptions.First as you have found if the city pairs are not available on the QF website and also J awards on long haul.We often fly Japan to the US.I can see Y,J and F milesAAver awards but mrsdrron will only see the Y and F-and also cant get J when you ring QF.Have no idea why.

The problem is that AA has different award inventory by sector, and AA and QF use different reservation software. So in your example, say TUL-LAX is actually TUL-DFW-LAX then AAdvantage uses TUL-LAX for the award inventory. QF cannot find TUL-LAX but only TUL-DFW-LAX and has to find award inventory for TUL-DFW and then DFW-LAX. Often ex-hub inventory is sold out on AA -- thus QF sees no availability TUL-DFW-LAX while AA has availability TUL-DFW-LAX because AA is using the ex-TUL inventory. One solution is to have QF check for "exotic" routings, e.g. TUL-MIA-LAX or TUL-JFK-LAX or TUL-LAS-LAX etc -- avoiding DFW and ORD. Frustrating but it has been this way for over 10 years and AA has no desire to fix it, to allow QF the same award access as Aadvantage has.

I have found that QF has less available. And thats as a QF WP.
BA and AA both show a lot more available award availability.
