Avianca/Taca LifeMiles - TACA Promo fare

I bought two one-way tickets on Taca for September, on the Promo fare, not realizing it was only for Peru residents. Does anyone know what happens if I show up at the airport? I don't mind paying a fee, I just don't want to not be allowed to fly.
I tried calling their customer service number, thinking I could pay whatever extra fee I need to now in order to change the fare class, but couldn't seem to make that happen.
I live in Los Angeles, where there's a Taca office, so might have more luck stopping by there in person.

Hi - Hoping you might follow-up on your post, as I have a LIM to CUZ PROMO fare reservation for my wife and me in early October 2012. Originally booked in Jan 2012 and received no notice of any additional fees or taxes associated with the PROMO fare. Recently returned to Taca website to consider itinerary change to an earlier flight and notice message addressing the additional fee for LIM to CUZ PROMO fare route. Called both the Taca Call Center and my local DC office to inquire about fee; told by agents at both locations that I was paid in full and no additional fees would be assessed. Emailed Taca to get this in writing and they responded that the fee would be assessed. Can't see to get a straight answer.
Were you charged the fee during your travels?
Thanks,
Matt

It just means that it's only to be SOLD in Peru.
You should be fine.
For example, my GDS using a POS of YVR doesn't show PROMO fares.

I actually bought the fare in the US, using their US site. I just looked up the fare again, and the notice that comes up now is: "PROMO fares apply only to residents of Peru...if you are unable to show documents certifying Peruvian residency you will have to pay an additional charge at the airport."
That disclaimer was probably somewhere when I bought the tickets months ago, but not as prominent as it is now.
I ended up just showing up at the airport intending to play dumb and pay the extra fee if necessary, but it ended up not being an issue. I got on the flights fine and didn't have to pay extra.

Yeah, I purchased via the US site in the same manner as you and saw no reference to any additional fees. The language is certainly prominent when you access their site now.
Glad to hear it wasn't a problem for you and no additional fees were required. I plan to follow your lead - arrive in Lima with the ability to pay any extra fees and hope to slide by just as you did. Thanks for the quick response!

I did the same before getting my Peruvian alien ID without any problems when flying to Cusco. Online checkin is highly recommended especially for those who don't speak very fluent Spanish to avoid having to pay the fee!

I did online check-in too. I'm not sure if it helped fly under the extra-fee radar, but it made the process at the airport go more smoothly.
And by the way, the service on the short one-hour flight was great - a hot snack, dessert, and alcohol in coach.
And they're Star Alliance now, so UA miles as well.

Unless something has changed recently, you may not be getting any miles with TACA's Promo Fares.
At least that is how it is with-in their own program.

I wondered about that too, but the miles for both Promo flights I took are already in my UA account.
