Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - Economy fares too expensive

Is there any reason why return bookings LHR-SIN in October are currently over £800?
All other times I have made this journey in the past couple of years, the fare has been around £525rtn.
Have SQ just not released discounted blocks yet, or are they penny-pinching?
To fly the same route with EK (via DXB) is over £200 cheaper. Are SQ really this incompetent?

Because they were expecting you to book again thats why they jacked up the pricing. They know who you are.

Are you sure it's SQ who's incompetent? Seems like astute pricing to me. Non-stop, superior product, and people are willing to pay. Why wouldn't they price it accordingly?
Probably due to the fact they cab get to custom. Why would they charge less when they can fill the seats at the lower price?
I find SQ 97% of the time cheaper when i am flying between AU and UK.

Why would you even compare a non-stop flight with one that requires a stop-over?
I am more than willing to pay a premium (to a certain extent) just to fly non-stop and sleep all the way to destination. SQ or any other carrier.
And as the others said... people are still paying for those tickets, most of their EU flights are almost always fully booked... I wouldn't reduce prices if I were them ;)
But I agree, SQ is quite expensive ex SIN. But they always have nice offers out of ZRH for example, at CHF 899, I wouldn't call it expensive for a good company and a direct flight.

I am just concerned that for £800 last year I could do LHR-SIN-NRT rtn on SQ, now that same price would only barely get me to SIN. We are in a recession but SQ raise their prices? That's a dangerous game, IMO.
Even in April this year, SQ317 was half empty and the FA's advised us all we could switch seats, have a row to ourselves, and even go downstairs because it was so empty. I can only see this becoming a more frequent occurrence.
Incidentally, despite my love of SQ, I checked MH A380 LHR-KUL and that is only £600, so SQ have lost me as a customer this time. :td:

Honestly, SQ wouldn't mind losing customers who are price conscience. SQ's pricing has never been cheap and it is their policy to never compete via pricing.

People would pay extra just to fly with SQ - hence SQ can afford to raise their prices a little! The only dangerous 'game' is not being able to get on a fully booked out SQ flight.

Both absurd generalizations.

I wouldn't. I have to fly them but don't like them.
Sure they are not as abysmal as QF or LH in coach but that doesn't make them a good coach carrier.
If you are a kettle however with zero status, then yes, SQ is definitely the carrier of choice.

Most of us here on FT won't fly with SQ because of many reasons. Yet I know so many people in Singapore that will buy SQ because they know they are reliable and they are getting quality that they are paying for. These people have no qualms dropping US$7K for a Business Class return from SIN to EU on SQ.
Most of us here on FT won't fly with SQ because of many reasons.
Then I wonder how some of us became SQ Gold or PPS. And why so many of us are able to comment on their product.....

Well perhaps there's no need for a FT SQ thread then? I certainly won't fly SQ (too airports they don't fly too).
