US Airways Dividend Miles - What is the USAirways policy on this status

If you achieve Silver prior to Oct. 1, 2012 I understand you loose status 2-2013.

What do they do if this Silver achieves Gold or above after 10-1-2012? Does the status still end 2-2013 or does it run to 2-2014?

If you flew 25,000 miles in 1/12, you'd be Silver until 2/28/14. Same thing goes for making Gold at any point during the 2012 year.

The cutoff date only applies for trial preferred status.

If you get status the old fashioned way (by flying), it's good from the time you earn it through the end of February of the second calendar year following.

So if you managed to fly 25,000 in the first couple of weeks of January 2012, you would have silver status through 2/28/2014.

You'll keep whatever status you earn by the end of 2012 through the end of February 2014 unless you earn a higher status in 2013. If you qualify for a lower status in 2013, that will take effect 3/1/2014.

Actually the October 1st cutoff date is for straight buy-ups. Trial preferred switches from one year to the next after July 1st, so a trial started now would garner status through 2/28/2014.

Then, over the next 90 days, fly a minimum amount of miles on flights operated by US Airways to keep your Preferred status through February 28, 2013.

If I gift someone silver status now via "Special Dividends" - 85K level, do you know when that would expire. Feb. 2013 or 2014?
