SAS EuroBonus - Tripod in carry-on with SAS
Has anybody got experience of taking a tripod on board with SAS? I've done this before on European flights but not with this airline. Do they allow it or do they tend to force you to check it? I'm thinking of a lightweight travel tripod, it folds down to about 50cm in length, rubbered rounded feet, not spiked.
(Sorry to keep asking questions on here, hopefully if I hang around long enough I'll be able to repay the favour one day...!)

My impression of bringing expensive/professional camera equipment on board is that they will be quite lenient as long as it fits in the overhead compartments. They won't take the risk of forcing you to check it in, due to liability issues.
50 cm is under the maximum cabin baggage limit:
The maximum weight per item is 8 kg. The maximum dimension of each item is 55x40x23 cm (22"x16"x9"). Hand luggage exceeding these limits will not be allowed onboard. (http://www.flysas.com/en/Travel_info/Baggage/Cabin_baggage/)
I've traveled on SAS with some strange carry-on, and flight personnel have always been accommodating.
Thanks to both of you for your replies. I realize it will be ok size-wise, I was more concerned about security or flight personnel interpreting it as some kind of weapon and not letting it on board. Good to know you've had decent experiences.

I - and especially colleagues - have travelled many times with fairly large tripods as hand luggage, and it is a non-issue – even at the more strict German airports.
