According to Taloussanomat, A350's ordered by Finnair are delayed further by at least 3 months. The news was not very precise as it said that before this news they were to be delivered "not earlier than 2015" - so we can expect the old A340's will be flying at least 3 more years - and before all of them have been replaced by A350's it'll probably be many more years.

Even it is not the topic, do you have any ideas how many Plat members Finnair may have?

Apparently one more! Congrats, OH-LGG! Hopefully your status wasn't earned on that specific plane though :D

Back on topic: The delay may not be that serious. Airbus shifted the launch date from "mid 2014" to "third quarter 2014" I believe. This may be interpreted by a journalist as all deliveries will shift 3 months, which may not be true.

Even if the production start is delayed, the individual production slots may not shift by same amount. Also, slots may be re-alloocated due to cancellations and negotiations. Lastly, who gets which production slot may depend on which contract has the highest delay penalty or other leverage the airline may have.

When the big delay was announced last year, I actually spoke to Finnair about it. They said they were very confident they would get deliveries on time.

As for going Boeing... Well, I think that would not be the right move. The A350 will be a great plane and will fit perfectly. The 787 is too small. Remember there is a limited number of overflight rights, and also limited slots at say NRT, ICN, HKG.
Also remember that AY will soon not operate any/many medium haul routes. All feeder flights will be op. by skunk airlines.
