Texas - DAL Love Field Closes Lobby Concessions

Thursday, July 26, 2012 – Effective Wednesday August 1, 2012, Dallas Love Field’s concession stands located in the public lobby of Terminal 2 will be permanently closed. The lobby concessions to be closed include Chili’s, Pizza Hut and McDonald’s restaurants.

Closure of these concessions will allow Love Field to continue construction on the new terminal lobby, which is expected to be completed spring 2013.

Cinnabon and Hudson News will remain open in the Terminal 2 Baggage Claim Hall, just west of the main security checkpoint and the Southwest Airlines ticket counters.

Oh wow, so now the food is even more sparse at Love Field. I didn't think that was possible.

Just to be clear, these are the land-side restaurants. The air-side Chili's, McDonald's, etc are unaffected.

Oh I understood that, given the number of people that flow through Love Field there are not a lot of food selections there and they all usually have lines. I always saw people at the land-side eating. For such a busy airport you would have thought they would have left something besides a Cinnabon open before security.

I've never seen the landside establishments busy, so I doubt it will kick up too much dust. With the exception of Pizza Hut, which is substituted with the better option of Campisi's, all of the landside options are also available airside. Love isn't really a "destination airport" to hang out at pre/post security anyhow.
