Virgin Australia Velocity - VA 30 min layover in SYD from Cairns to Ayers Rock - Enough Time?

VA offers a Cairns to Ayers Rock flight with a stopover in SYD as follows:
515a/920a then 950a/1145a. This is the only flight offered per day.
My question: is this half hour layover sufficient time, or is this pushing it?
I would like to think since is the only flight VA is conscious of this short layover.
Else Quantas has a direct flight for $100 more, but hoping to save some money.
I appreciate any feedback.

If on the one booking you are protected in the case of any misconnect.
At ASP, ½ hour should be fine for a connection in such a circumstance.
The MCT is actually 20 minutes:

It's actually a layover at SYD, going from Cairns to AYR.
Since SYD is so large, I wasn't sure how a 30min layover would fare.

30 mins is a legal connect in Sydney. Would i suggest it, nope! But if they are offering it out and your piecing it together i would take it, you would be changed to the next day (be mindful only 1 flight a date).

I agree. I think there is only a small risk that you might not make the connection, in which case you'd have a day off in Sydney. So in the end it depends on what is at stake for you if you don't make the connection. If I had an important Business meeting or went to a wedding, I would not take the risk. But if this were the start of a 10-day holiday I would definitely not mind.

Thank you. That helps. Depending on what hotel cancellations are we could be in a bind trying rearrange stuff at ayers rock if we missed the flight-something to consider.

Thank you. That helps. Depending on what hotel cancellations are we could be in a bind trying rearrange stuff at ayers rock if we missed the flight-something to consider. No shows at hotels aren't normally a problem if you let them know, and since DJ would be managing your accommodation in SYD if you misconnect, then I wouldn't worry about it.
You would have paid for one night at AYQ (minimum), if you misconnect, then DJ will pibk up your hotel in SYD (when you should be in AYQ), you fly the next day and take up your confirmed booking. Easily done.
