Hi!

I have a question about a 15 hours layover in Beijing. Will be flying Taipei-Beijing-Stockholm. All Air China.

We will be staying at an airport hotel for the night but the question is. Do I need to pick up my luggage in Beijing and check it in agian the following day?

I've also heard some stories about "lost" luggage in Beijing. Would it if possible be safer to pick up my luggage even though it's not so convenient?

Thanks!

Is the airport hotel you are referring to airside (transit hotel) or landside (Hilton, etc.)? If landside, I would recommend that you check your back to PEK only and collect your there since you'll have to take the train (after immigration) to the baggage belt/arrivals area anyway.

Not sure what you mean by "lost luggage" at PEK - haven't really heard of any occurrences unless there are irregular operations caused by weather.

I should hope that he's staying at a landside hotel... 15 hours in T3 would be pure torture. And, I agree that he should retrieve his bags. Apart from peace of mind, I find that my bags usually show up on the belt within a few minutes of me showing up (*G and OW E status does seem to help in this regard). FWIW, 15 hours is enough time to head to a hotel in a more interesting part of town.
