Emirates Skywards - Chauffeur drive when travelling with a buddy

I'm travelling with a mate in a few weeks time but on seperate bookings.

If we want to share the chauffeur drive to the airport, what is the best way to organise this? Should we put in a comment when booking on line, call Emirates and tell them or call the chauffeur company direct?

Anything else we should do when travelling together but booked seperately.

Will a normal car be sufficient (you've only got 2 people and bags right)? Just book it for yourself and have your mate get in the car to go down with you. I've done the exact opposite when leaving the airport. My father was in Y on a separate booking. He just jumped in the car with me.

Yes, two people and bags. One car will be sufficient and we're both travelling in J.

I just want to ask that they don't send two cars when one will do, and I'm wondering the best way to do this without causing confusion.

What is the departure point. If in DXB, no issues, just book the one car and he will hop on. At outstations they can sometimes get a bit iffy with insurance and some other nonsense, so I would just put a note on the booking.

Departure point is GLA so I'll do as you suggest.

Agree in DXB its fine, I even got the driver to drop my gf off at work once on the way to the airport! (She had been waiting outside for ten mins trying to get a cab first so not as bad as it sounds, and its right on the way to the airport!!)

In the UK I had an issue once with a driver who didn't want to allow my colleague to get in the car (he was in Y same flight) but in the end it was allowed.

So I suppose that they wouldn't look too kindly on including someone else not on the same flight in the car? I am leaving LHR on Emirates J, but my traveling companion is on another airline around the same time. Should I (a) see if they'll let her hop in the car, (b) tell/ask them beforehand, or (c) just forget about her coming along?

It would be legitimate if they wouldn't allow her; I wouldn't complain.

Option B sounds right, don't mention they are not on the same flight just say the pickup will be for two people with luggage and I can't see them having any issue.

Yeah I agree. LHR have something about passengers not being covered by the company insurance if they are not ticketed to fly on EK. I wasn't allowed to escort someone when they got picked up last time around as I wasn't flying.

Same situation last week. Flying J out of GLA with a friend, we booked one car. No issues

How did you arrange this?

There doesn't seem to be anywhere on the on-line booking form to add a note to this effect. Would a phone call to Emirates or to Charlton Limo be better?

Always better to call. Otherwise, they will ring the day before to confirm your location and so you can do it then.

No problem in Singapore (Sixt) or Melbourne (Hughes). I agree with Zol, I just tell them the day before when they call to confirm what the arrangements are. I've picked people up on the way, diverted to pick up an item on the way etc and always no problems. Of course it helps if you tip the driver before you set off. They seem to always nod with a smile and agree to your request ;)

I called before hand once and was refused straight away out of MAN. Had a family member flying BA to LGW and then EK out of LGW a few days later. I was flying EK out of MAN. I argued with them that we are both EK passengers just on differnet dates, and a car was coming for me anyway and dropping us to the same location we both need to be at, but to no avail. I was told by the call center that passengers in the car must be travelling EK on that day to get in. Opted for a cab instead to the airport.

Any ideas about travelling with minors? I have a trip to MAN in about a months time. They will be in Y, but we are a group travelling together. Hoping to get the car to take us all from and to the airport. (total of 3 passengers)

I think if you specifically mention they are not flying EK then they are of course going to say no. Just say you need a car for x number of passengers and I am sure they will be OK.

Strange I've had a mate travel with me to LHR from the city when I was traveling in J and he wasn't traveling at all! No information passed to car company before hand, just requested the driver at the pickup point and he was fine with it

From the airport its no problem, nobody asks. To the airport you will have to inform them due to capacity, 3 passengers with luggage, it might be a bit tight. They have those soccer mum Chrysler vans they can send

When they asked for my Ref the agent said the car was for one passenger (I had linked 2 ref's together) I mentioned that we are 2 people and they said since they are not on EK out of MAN they can't drive out.

Yes I think that from the airport it shouldn't be an issue. Again, I linked the Ref's and asked the local office to confirm the car is for 3, even though only 1passenger is eligible. They mentioned since they are minor's (14yr olds) then it is ok.

Yes.

He was was flying FRA > DXB > BKK > SYD. I was flying BKK > SYD. I'd already booked my flight months before. I specifically told him to book the same return flight via BKK so that we could share it.

We were 4 in F flying into MEL about two months ago - I specifically said 2 cars would be fine, but they somehow got that mixed up and we got only one. Fair enough they owned up to it and paid for the cab fare, so all ended well ^

I'm flying J in October and have put in a reservation for a car to Heathrow, but I will be arriving at Reading Railway station - Do you know if it's ok for them to pick me up from there? I've given my train arrival time and departure point in the booking.

As long as you have given them your arrival train info and time and contact info you should be okay.(give your mobile number as they usually call the day before to confirm the trip.)
I have had a chauffeur drive pick up from Kings cross to LGW last year .

Yep, pickup for train stations is fine I have done it many times form Kings X and Euston.

Although the amount of times I have ended up stuck in traffic and only just make my flight I do think I should just suffer the tube. Second thoughts, nope!
