Posted this in another thread, but just a heads up for anyone flying SYD-HKG on QF.

For most of August/September (according to the online schedules), QF127/128 will be operated by a 744 on Sundays. This means the 388 is only available between SYD and HKG Th/Fr/Sa. Regular Sunday flights operated by a 388 seem to resume October 7.

But there are some inconsistencies in the timetable. For example QF87 operates on 14 October, but QF88 does not operate. So this could be subject to change.

Edit: Service reduction extends into October and November. 388 flights on Sunday resume in December.

So far QF hasn't notified me of a change (I'm booked on QF127 in December) so presumably this is a temporary change while they do maintenance on the earlier A380s. These must be coming up for their D-checks now. I guess QF will always have scheduling anomalies with the A380s while it is such a small fleet and they don't take delivery of their remaining orders to get the planned fleet. At least the current A380s are enough to fly to DXB.

Or possibly some more reconfiguration work...

Wednesday's flight was operated by a Reconfigured Boeing 747-400 with No First and Fully Flat Skybeds. Thursday and Friday was operated by VH-OQD (i.e. the reconfigured A380).

No wonder CX has much higher load factors into HKG.

What would happen to the a380 crew with the reduction in service?

380 flights on Sundays resume in December now, so I think you should be safe for the moment!
