Hi Everyone, Newb here

I'm ending my 2 month trip around South-east Asia and wanted to stop in The Philippines before going back to Sydney.
I'm flying to either Manilla or Angeles City from Saigon because they have the cheapest flights and I am way over budget already. I cant afford to do much traveling within or any major tourist attractions. I just want to explore and photograph a city, eat some street food, maybe catch a sunset and meet a Filipina or two haha.

So my question is which city would be best to spend 3-4 days in with little to no budget?

Any help is much appreciated
Cheers,

Cheers,

I can understand the desire to go the Philippines as it is a nice place to visit. However, 'with little to no budget' I have to wonder what exactly you think is possible.

Which city are you departing from to return to Sydney?

Manila is the capital of the Philippines and, if you consider the metropolitan area, it is quite large. You can find accommodations ranging from very cheap to very expensive. Realize that for the most part you will be disappointed in how much your accommodation dollar buys relative to other SE Asian countries such as Thailand, Cambodia or Vietnam.

You have a choice of transportation within Manila from walking all the way to private cars. On your little to no budget I would presume that you will be walking and/or riding jeepneys with an occasional taxi ride. Jeepneys are not comfortable by any stretch of the imagination but they get the job done and they run all times of day and night. But thy run on set routes so you have to know the route(s) you need. Asking a Filipina or Filipino for directions is one way of meeting the local people ... ha ha??? As always be careful of touts and others that are overly eager to be your friend.

Food. Well, I have never eaten street food in Manila so I can't recommend it. However, there are plenty of low cost eateries as long as your taste buds can take it. My best recommendation is to try the food courts in the mid-range malls for the best compromise between cost and quality.

There are several locations from which you can catch the sunset and Manila has a variety of photogenic locations and people.

I would caution you against running out of money in the Philippines [or anywhere else for that matter].

There are no flights to CRK (Angeles) from SGN, only to MNL.

3-4 days in Manila shouldn't hurt as far as I'm concerned, but as always when in a new place, be careful, take care and enjoy. :)

If you want honey, you better have money, esp. in Souteast Asia. :-)

Angeles is a dump, you will not get any nice photos or see any good sunsets. But it would be cheaper than Manila. But really I can not see any point in going to either from what you said. Maybe if you could get a flight to Cebu then that would meet your requirements.

I have to disagree with some of what is said above. There are several places within Manila that are worth visiting, if you will be in the Philippines.

Also there are several locales that are near to Angeles that are worth visiting if you have never seen the likes before. The Lahar Fields come to mind.

While AC is a dump, I've found many good photo ops in AC/Pampanga.

It's now been 9 years since I lived down there (wow!), but I didn't find it to be the slightest bit expensive. I did yoga with gurus, hung out with Imelda 3x/week, and frequented Tony Roma's + the HRC. That having been said, since my budget was on the low side (for an expat), I couldn't make the numbers pencil.

you are going to stay 3-4 days in Philippines with little budget though, it sounds little worried because even though it is just for few days you need money to spend for staying and eating and based on any others comment Angeles is cheaper than Manila but you need to seek another place for your interest in photograph

Unless you really are a sex tourist, there's not much to do in Angeles City.

MNL where sunsets are beautiful by Manila Bay (along Roxas Blvd) and populated with hotels that will fit your budget. As in previous posts, take caution, enjoy the ride. Good luck!
