looks like rules allow two transfers each way, but I can only find one via IAH or ORD.

I was able to find a routing MCO-LAX-ORD-OMA (routing that way for the outbound, anyway) for $159 rt on ITA, but have not been able to find anywhere that will book it. Maybe someone else will have better luck. 4378 miles one way

Keep in mind that uses a 'direct' flight from MCO-OMA, in that MCO-LAX and LAX-OMA have the same flight number. Apparently CO does not give actual distance for such, though there is debates about how one can remedy that.
Thus, YMMV.
