Amtrak Guest Rewards - Do you get points for travel paid for by points?

Quick question... I got the 32,000 point deal and have been funneling all my expenses through my Chase Mastercard, but none of those points are tier qualifying. When I redeem those points to travel, do I get tier qualifying points from the travel? I've searched around for this answer but I think I'm phrasing it wrong because I haven't found an answer yet.

Thanks...

No, points earned are based on what you spend. Since you don't spend anything for reward travel, you don't earn any points.

You get no point period for trips taken and paid for with points. No Tier Qualifying points and no AGR points.

Technically you'll see the trip post on your account, but zero dollars spent X 2 points per dollar spent = zero.

So basically with the AGR mastercard, I can get free travel but I'm never going to qualify for anything if I always use points. I guess it's not that big of a deal really, just wish I got something for racking up all these points :)

You do get something for all the points - train tickets. :)

Don't forget that all your points will disappear if you don't travel on a paid Amtrak ticket in 3 years. I also got the 32,000 pts and my last paid travel was about 2 years ago. I will use these points this Fall for a RT Family sleeper to Chicago(one zone). I still need 18,000 pts but will either transfer points from SPG or do the spend on Amtrak c/c.

It is free.

If you have one your points do not expire.
