Russia - Air Baltic changes vacation

I never had an airline change the flight time so drastically before; but they did so now instead of a day in AMS, I have to leave that same night I arrive there and get to Riga for a stopover. they offered to put me up in a hotel 'near the airport. Any idea where they put you up, is this a nice area that I can enjoy or not.

Riga is relatively small, it should not take you more than 20 mins to get from the airport are to the city center...

But I agree, changes like that suck. I was stripped of one day vacation on Caymans once - to get an overnight stopover in NYC in Dec.
