Russia - DME on *A with 1 stop

Looking for a ticket to DME (MOW, actually) on *A. With United canceling IAH-DME nonstop, I am looking at SQ IAD-DME.

For my dates (late sep) if I price IAD-DME I get $888. If I price SDF-IAH-DME I get a price of $2,191.00 Is it me or they are crazy, charging me 3x the price of intercontinental flight to fly SDF - IAD?

What other connections work best now to fly to DME? I am getting few options with tight connection at GVA, but still getting to Moscow in the afternoon. I miss IAD-DME already.

BTW, UA prices SDF-IAH non-stop @ $320...

You said "MOW. actually" so is SVO an option? Pretty tough to beat SU's prices these days. Just a suggestion.

The SQ experience it worth it I hear so if you can get to IAH economically I say make that decision for sure.

If I do this trip on *A I am getting Gold with them, so really trying to avoid flying Skyteam. Worst part is that the trip is paid by the company, so I need to convince them to do *A...

I might do separate tickets SDF-IAH-SDF and IAH-DME-IAH. Comes down to about 1/2 the price that way. I flew SQ once, DME-IAH - I have not noticed anything extraordinary... Better than UA, but not much better.

Their service is dramatically better in Business/First. Economy class is balancing out at very bad level nowadays on all airlines.
