Mrs Richo Rabbit is expecting Jnr Richo Rabbit (number 3) in October. She is qualified for Gold now and her renewal date is November so will maintain Gold until November 2013.

She recently wrote to QF asking if she could 'suspend' her membership until early next year (Mat leave effectively). She got a call offering 'we will review when you get back'.

has anyone had any experiences in this area as Virgin seem to have a suspension policy (and family pooling) which seems a bit more maternity supportive.

I found them flexible in this area, just make sure the call is made while she's still Gold :)

DJ on the other hand - "the rules is the rules". Yes they have the leave pass, but it's a fixed period, which may not suit everyone.

We recently had a reroute issue with DJ which cost 120SCs. They would not budge on fixing this (although I've gone higher :) ), unlike QF which has awarded points and SCs everytime based on original routing.

Congratulations!

Whilst I totally understand that your wife will not be able to fly (for extremely good reasons! :D) I'm a bit surprised that airlines offer this kind of 'suspension'. It seems to be as though it is quite open to abuse. What about other medical 'conditions' (can't think of a better word)? If I fell ill for extended period of time I'd love to be able to suspend my membership, but I'd be very surprised if the airline obliged.

LH until a few years ago had this policy suspending status requalification for up to one year when providing a birth certificate. But the policy was dropped 2-3 years ago.

LH dropped it without notice about six years ago. I clearly remember it, because we just did not get it for our older girl. They stated that it has never been there.
