bmi diamond club - HELP! Tier Downgraded from Gold To Silver????

I was looking up information for my son (family member) while planning to do the BA status match, and noted the following:
05-Jul-2012 Tier Downgraded from Gold To Silver 0 -5535
Does anyone have any idea how this could have happened? His Gold card (the *A one) was marked as expiring 08/12.
If this was indeed done in error, how might I go about fixing it?
Unfortunately the card expiry date is not when your status drops. They have an extra month or so on the card so that you can continue to use lounges, etc until your new card arrives (for those that requalify).
BA does the same, only difference is that they make the dates clearer on their website.
On the positive side - BA Silver is a good status to have, is equivalent to gold in most schemes (equivalent to Platinum on AA).
There's another thread about this somewhere but I don't have time to hunt it down. Might be worth asking Nicci (DiamondClubQueries) if she can help (but search for that thread first to ensure that this route hasn't yet been tried first. She may be willing to action a status match based on the old status.
I remember reading Joanna (FlyerTalk's original airline representative and until recently the official bmi lurker) was unable to help, but Nicci is a BA employee and ultimately it's up to BA who to status match.

OK - bad me, posting before searching. I now see (from a search) that the anniversary date for renewing status is prior to the expiration date printed on the card.
Now the question: does anyone know if, for the purposes of a BAEC status match, the status will now count as gold or silver?
Many thanks in advance.

I thought they'd put a freeze on downgrades?

They froze downgrades for a day, and then thought better of it, and removed the offending statement from the website.
As to the status match, I'd be pretty confident that BA will match to Silver, as they seem to be basing it on status on the date of application for the match.

Sorry to correct you but it wasn't just a day, it went up, then down, then back up again. Certainly not a 'few hours' as was told to me by DC. :td:

Does anyone by chance have a screen shot of the statement saying they would freeze downgrades?

All's well that ends well: BA matched to Gold.
Kudos to Nicci (the BA/ new DC lurker), who was incredibly helpful and responsive!
