US Airways Dividend Miles - $30 one-way fares (DCA to LIT, JAN, BHM, PNS, VPS & TLH)View Full Version : $30 one-way fares (DCA to LIT, JAN, BHM, PNS, VPS & TLH) sbbutler93 Jul 25, 12, 11:46 am Just announced as part of 30 days for DC on Twitter http://www.usairways.com/en-us/specials/dcfaresale.html RMINIONE Jul 25, 12, 11:51 am Places where no one wants to go to. mrredskin Jul 25, 12, 12:18 pm Places where no one wants to go to. you've obviously never been to gulf shores, pensacola, or destin area masonuc Jul 25, 12, 12:19 pm They seem to be generally available -- but yeah, no place I'd ever want to go. I even toyed with a few trips but a little research confirms there is nothing to do at any of these places, and if I want the FL beach I'll spring a little extra to go to FLL or MIA. ITRADE Jul 25, 12, 12:43 pm DCA-LIT - 1,772 tier miles for $60.00.... or 3544 total miles for $60.00. Throw in the Gold preferred bonus and you're up to 4430 miles for $60 or $0.013 per mile... LowlySpartan Jul 25, 12, 12:46 pm DCA-LIT - 1,772 tier miles for $60.00.... or 3544 total miles for $60.00. Throw in the Gold preferred bonus and you're up to 4430 miles for $60 or $0.013 per mile... Yeah, I'd totally do it just for the miles (since I'm going to be just shy of *G without this), but can't seem to find anything. Also, anything about same day turns or crediting to another FFP? Didn't see anything in fine print. Plusflyer Jul 25, 12, 1:01 pm There is a DCA-LIT same day turn around on 9/11. But how do you bypass the 1 hours minimum for the same day turn around with the return ticket? Do you book two one ways? The return flight will be on the same plane so most of the IRROPS are covered but what if there is overbooking and you will arrive in a different plane? CMK10 Jul 25, 12, 1:19 pm I went ahead and bought a roundtrip to PNS. It's going to mean a long drive up from Durham but I've been meaning to go to the Museum of Naval Aviation for a while and fares out of RDU have been really high to PNS. Even with a hotel in the D.C. Area and two tanks of gas this will be less. Plus, when else am I going to fly DCA-PNS on an awful CRJ-200? :p ITRADE Jul 25, 12, 2:47 pm There is a DCA-LIT same day turn around on 9/11. But how do you bypass the 1 hours minimum for the same day turn around with the return ticket? Do you book two one ways? The return flight will be on the same plane so most of the IRROPS are covered but what if there is overbooking and you will arrive in a different plane? I booked a one night. I've got a gazillion Hilton miles. Or I can priceline it. shopper711 Jul 25, 12, 2:52 pm Its gone! :( sbbutler93 Jul 25, 12, 3:16 pm Yeah, I'd totally do it just for the miles (since I'm going to be just shy of *G without this), but can't seem to find anything. Can't do same-day turns for the double miles promo GNRMatt Jul 25, 12, 3:32 pm Just wish they'd do things like this out of Philly. I know this is being done because of the "30 Days for DC" month, but it would be nice if they did random things like this at other airports as well. I would've jumped on this...and destination can be made into a good weekend. CMK10 Jul 25, 12, 3:45 pm Just wish they'd do things like this out of Philly. Or take one of many Amtrak trains. :p Plusflyer Jul 25, 12, 4:09 pm Can't do same-day turns for the double miles promo According to the fine print of the double miles promo, you cannot do same-day turn X-DCA-X as it will be considered a connection but you can do DCA-X-DCA. krpjr Jul 25, 12, 4:37 pm Where are these places and what is there to do ?:D Nikolaos Jul 25, 12, 5:40 pm Hey man, if I can drive from Durham, North Carolina to Washington D.C. you can certainly drive from Philadelphia. Grabbed 2 tix for Florida!! ;) notallwhowander Jul 25, 12, 5:49 pm Can't do same-day turns for the double miles promo I snagged one of these today and was excited about the fare alone, but... what am I not getting about the terms? On http://www.usairways.com/en-US/dividendmiles/dcdoublemiles.html?cint=lp_us_21094 (sorry if I'm not posting correctly) it seemed to indicate that connections didn't count for double miles, not a return flight on the same day? "Customers must book July 7 - August 5 for travel July 7 – September 30, 2012 to earn double miles on itineraries starting or ending at Reagan National Airport (DCA). Bonus is awarded on consecutive flights, as long as the origin or destination is DCA. Customers with itineraries connecting through Reagan National Airport (DCA) are not eligible for bonus miles. Any itinerary with a Reagan National Airport (DCA) arrival followed by a Reagan National Airport (DCA) departure the same day is considered a connection. For example, if you fly from Washington, DC (DCA) to Phoenix to San Diego, you’ll earn bonus miles on both flights. But if you fly from Norfolk to Washington, DC (DCA) to San Diego, you will not earn bonus miles. Bonus is earned on base flight miles only on flights operated by US Airways or US Airways Express; miles do not count toward Preferred status. US Airways will award bonus miles one to two weeks after travel has been completed. All Dividend Miles terms and conditions apply." I'm fine, either way, but would appreciate any clarification from flyertalk veterans. Thanks, all. sbbutler93 Jul 25, 12, 8:22 pm According to the fine print of the double miles promo, you cannot do same-day turn X-DCA-X as it will be considered a connection but you can do DCA-X-DCA. Was still asleep this morning :P BoeingBoy Jul 25, 12, 10:43 pm Where are these places and what is there to do ?:D Where: in the southeast, looks like Gulf state mostly. What to do: never having spend more than an overnight, several are beach cities. Jim CMK10 Jul 26, 12, 10:38 am Where: in the southeast, looks like Gulf state mostly. Jim Here's my sole purpose of going to Pensacola: http://www.navalaviationmuseum.org/ sbbutler93 Jul 26, 12, 1:47 pm Today's fare special is DCA-YOW/YYZ/YUL for $130 all in, roundtrip. I booked one to YUL myself for labour day! http://www.usairways.com/en-us/specials/dcfaresale.html drewguy Jul 26, 12, 3:05 pm Yeah, I'd totally do it just for the miles (since I'm going to be just shy of *G without this), but can't seem to find anything. Also, anything about same day turns or crediting to another FFP? Didn't see anything in fine print. Why couldn't you credit to another FFP? You won't get 2x miles, but isn't this just a fare sale? Nikolaos Jul 26, 12, 6:03 pm Why couldn't you credit to another FFP? You won't get 2x miles, but isn't this just a fare sale? I guess he meant credit to another program and get the double miles. It is a R fare. sbbutler93 Jul 27, 12, 11:50 am Today's deal---a steal IMO. $130 r/t DCA-SAN. With 2x miles it's over 9k miles for $130. https://twitter.com/USAirways/status/228904591473905664 radiotvlaw Jul 27, 12, 12:30 pm Scored 2 DCA-SAN same day turn for $130 ea - will work while the mrs. knits - all good and dinner at 5 guys upon return - life's good and she requals for silver and I continue climbing towards CP requal. paytonc Jul 30, 12, 3:14 pm Does anyone know of a clean RSS feed that would alert me to these fare sales? I would have pounced on any one of the three $30 sales but didn't find out about them until mere minutes/hours afterwards. US Airways announces these on its Facebook wall, but Facebook has shut down the ability to view Wall posts via RSS, and "subscribing" to something there doesn't guarantee that it'll show in the News Feed anyways -- much less in a timely manner, owing to Facebook's mystical prioritization algorithm. I can easily find an RSS for US's Twitter feed and/or for a #30days tag, but both end up being cluttered with dozens (seems like hundreds) of customer service complaints and meaningless retweets. Since the fares are only up for a few hours, I doubt that alerts via an outside service would update in time. sbbutler93 Jul 30, 12, 8:46 pm Does anyone know of a clean RSS feed that would alert me to these fare sales? You only get general tweets and not any @replies to anyone. Get it practically the instant it is tweeted. |
