Hertz - No spouse privileges in Europe?

Hi all,

I'm looking at booking a car in France in Sept and I've been informed that Gold privileges - specifically complimentary spouse/extra driver - don't apply outside of the USA.

Can anyone attest to this?

Yes that is correct...no privileges for spouses in Europe including the UK.. so you will have to pay the extra driver charge :(

Found this to be true recently in Germany. Both my wife and I have Hertz Gold and AAA, but no dice - had to pay extra for another driver. I emailed AAA and they confirmed the free additional driver benefit does not work outside of the US.
