Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Change date of departure and city for return leg on Business Standard Fares

Sorry for the newbie question, but I'm just starting to fly more and more on CX. I am booking TPE-US-TPE flights now in the Business Standard fare class. However, I'm not certain on my return leg in terms of the date of departure or city yet. I noticed on the website that "Rebooking is Free of Charge".

Does this mean that I can change the return city and date anytime in the future without any extra fees or problems (assuming that I will need to pay for any fare difference, of course)?

Rebooking - free of charge
It means it is free to change date only.

Rerouting, change of return city after ticket has been issues, would require ticket re issuance, and it really depends of the fare rules, which might not be allowed.

the latest business standard fares from some PoS (point of sales) requires a silly amount of fees (for reticketing)... I'm sure it can be done, just that you'll have to pay extra....

oops i've missed the part you mentioned re ex TPE. ya. ex TPE are good in such sense. low change fees.

The re-route ex-TPE fares might encounter a charge of NTD1000 (I did one in April).

That's not too bad. It seems hard to find out exactly what the fare rules are on the CX website prior to booking though...

Ex-TPE fares are very friendly. Date (and FLT is permitted by original fare) changes are free and re-routing is 1000TWD + fare / tax difference for pure CX / KA itinerary (1500TWD if other airlines are involved). I can give you the fare information if you let us know what exactly you are looking for.

That seems really amazing, compared to the UA rules that I am used to. I'm looking for TPE-BOS-TPE flights, but there are two issues:

1) I'm not sure when the return would be, but this seems ok since I can rebook and change times, and just pay the fare difference (if any)

2) CX only flies TPE-HKG-JFK, so I need to add on the JFK-BOS leg somehow. The international leg I am interested in flying business but for the JFK-BOS leg, looking to get the cheapest way possible (meaning economy). The CX website doesn't seem to allow one to choose different booking classes for different legs, so I assume this needs to be done over the phone. Or maybe via a good TPE-based travel agent.

1. Exactly, plus 1500TWD re-issue fee because of AA segments involved.
2. It is bookable online (now it is, not the case several months ago). CX has interline fares for domestic AA segments. If the AA fare has J you would be put on J. If no J but there is F you would be put in F. If neither J nor F exists you would be put in Y. You can also choose to transit via LAX, SFO, ORD, YVR, YYZ if you wish (in fact, cheaper via LAX than via JFK, by ~20kTWD). However, I recommend booking via phone, as that way you can hold the reservation until 5 days before departure for ticketing (usually, unless during peak season). Right now the nett fares (purchasing via TPECX, add ~3%, TAs vary) to BOS via JFK are:
-05SEP: 134500TWD+tax (D, 1 year)
06SEP-20DEC: 119500TWD+tax (I, 1 month); 127500TWD+tax (D, 1 year)
21DEC-31DEC: 127500TWD+tax (D 1 year)
