Hertz - Hertz Minivan

I somehow got an amazing deal with Hertz in Phoenix from Aug 27-29th for a minivan at $15 a day. I really do not want a minivan, but at the price, how could I not book it? What are the chances I will actually get a minivan or something else instead?

eh? probably just days when they're anticipating having more minivans on hand than necessary.
One time at DCA I went to look at the Gold Choice aisle and the only vehicles there were four Mazda 5's (I think those are the minivans). I laughed and went to my car. I had reserved F. It was a Mazda 5! I managed to escape in an Altima or something.

Go for the deal, get there, ask what model it is.
Ask for an upgrade
for 10 - 20 bux extra they might give you something nice

Any idea how the gold aisle is there? I did register and put the rental under it

If you could book a minivan for $15, see if you can book a SUV (Traverse, Acadia, Equinox) for the same price or ask to switch at the counter. Typically these two types of vehicles are the same price.

The Mazda 5 is a car with sliding doors. Believe it or not, Hertz still classifies the Mazda 5 as a midsize car ( C or YC).

My aunt booked an SUV thru Alamo the last time she visted because it was HALF the price of a mid or full size car, and quite a bit cheaper than even an economy car. She rec'd an SUV (a Kia Sorento) which was nice but too big. Went back to exchange and they said we could pick a regular car or small SUV with no difference in rate so she traded for a Ford Escape.
I'd just book the van and swap when you get there. I've never had a problem at Hertz downgrading to a full size or switching to an SUV at the same rate.

Hopefully I can get an SUV then for the same price. Worse comes to worse, I can resort to the gold aisle

They have to for 2 reasons 1) They would need to reduce the number of passengers in the minivan description to six and the number of suitcases down considerably, and 2) There would be people flipping out every day at every station that they were given that when reserving a minivan. If I had a wife and three kids and was given that when renting a minivan, I'd be seething.

So what would I most likely get as a minivan?

Likely Dodge Caravan/ Chrysler T&C. Not too many companies make minivans anymore. Nissan still makes the Quest and Toyota the Sienna.

There's supposedly been a large influx of Nissan Quests not too long ago, especially on the west coast.
I've seen Grand Caravans and Town & Country's on lots in the past though.
In 2010 we rented a Caravan through Alamo (or maybe it was Budget), 20 minutes later we crawled back onto the lot because the transmission wouldn't go past 1st gear (scary on the highway!) and they switched us into a fully-loaded T&C.

Honda also makes the Odyssey.
