Good move. Jetblue is a good up and coming airline in America. Although they are also famous for leaving passenger on tarmacs for 6-10 hours... :D

This is great news! I'm going to try this on Thursday. Has anyone tried this and succeeded yet?

Excellent news! Thanks for the heads up, CB. I travel on B6 domestic every time I go over to the US, and this will make a huge difference. Anyone who has done it before the baggage interlining will know the pain of going outside and then rechecking in.

Question: should we just provide both e-tickets when checking in, so that the check-in staff at HKIA / IFC will know to interline it?

Since this is something new, I would do that. Don't count on everyone knowing this new agreement.

"Through the arrangement, effective later this summer" - looks like we can expect for an(other) update closer to implementation date. But good news overall, will make my travels much easier. Only problem is the vastly different baggage check-in rules...

I'm not sure if this is answered or not or even possible; but does their partnership mean you can earn Asia Miles on Jetblue? How would you key this in if you're able to?

Nothing so far unless a FFP agreement is going to be signed later on. At this stage it is only baggage interline, a very basic feature among legacy companies. It is even not a codeshare.

It may be convenient coming off of a 16+ hour flight and you don't want to hassle with your luggage, but I'm not sure if this is something to be too excited about (at the moment at least)!

We tried this in mid August (without even knowing that it was under discussion): TPE-HKG-JFK-MCO, fine from Taipei to JFK on CX but the CX agents in Taipei couldn't tag our bags for Orlando, just to JFK, which means that the people at the transfer desk at Terminal 7 in JFK wouldn't accept them and we had to take them on the Skytrain to the JetBlue terminal. Not a big deal as we had plenty of time and checkin there was painless but the interlining didn't seem to be a reality in mid-August.

The interline agreement is visible now:

CX-160 CATHAY PACIFIC AIRWAYS/CATHAY PACIFIC AIRWAYS LTD

MAY ISSUE TICKETS INCLUDING
B6-279 JETBLUE AIRWAYS/JETBLUE AIRWAYS CORP.

MAY CHECK BAGGAGE TO
B6

Don't know what the status was in mid-August though.

For that Valentine mess (it did happen on Valentine's day), B6 is responsible, but not really their fault after all. JFK was in a big mess and without open gates to offload.

If you have flown to any NYC airports (EWR/LGA/JFK), you know the mess.

B6 interlines with JAL as well, and you can earn AA miles flying B6. Would not surprise me to see a closer cooperation between OneWorld and B6 in the near future.

just curious...have you ever flown them? i do regularly from BUF to MCO. of them, airtran, SW, they are the best IMO.

[just remembered...how long were those poor people on the CX plane during that winter storm in NYC?...sure not CX's fault but if you are pointing this out, why not point out the CX one also...]

ahhh...i found it...

You can only earn AA miles on selected B6 FLTs.

You'd still have to collect your bag despite the interline due to customs regulations, though, which sucks. I guess it works when you fly from US back to HK.

I am flying YVR-JFK-SRQ later this month
CX-888 connecting to B6-341

Will the interline work now? My CX F ticket allows 3 bags of 32kg of sand, B6 probably won't like this... :)

When I land will 110 minutes between flights be enough?
I assume the agent at YVR can print my boarding passes as well?

You have to prob pay the excess baggage especially if it is 2 separate tickets where the MSC rules will not apply

I thought interlining meant the first carrier's rules applied...care to elaborate? At what point would B6 even be able to approach me about the luggage considering CX does all the paperwork in Vancouver.

If your itinerary is on the same ticket, i.e. YVR-JFK-SRQ, then B6 would have to honor the higher baggage allowance for CX as applicable to F class passengers. That's usually part of most baggage interline agreements.

CX @ YVR will charge you the excess baggage. Actually even if it is ONE ticket you will still be charged the 3rd piece as the extra piece is a MPO benefit ONLY applicable on CX/KA operated flights.

Actually just read your post more, since when does CX F Class pax get 3 pieces of luggage?

http://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_INTL/helpingyoutravel/checkedbaggage#A

Unless you are GO or DM, you will not get the 3rd piece free anyway (depending on the CSO of course as they might waive it), but that defintiely will NOT waive it for non CX sectors.

You got some problems here:

First, MCT in JFK between CX and B6 is 120 min.

T*CT-JFK/CXB6/ID«
STANDARD.D/D...D/I...I/D...I/I.
ONLINE 1.00 1.15 1.45 2.00
OFFLINE 1.00 1.15 1.45 2.00
** OR * ARE ALL
CX-B6 ID 2.00
**-B6 ID SUP
CX-** ID 2.00

Therefore, CX will likely refuse to tag your bags to the B6 FLT. Also, as this is an illegal transit, my guess is that you are on separate TKTs, and so MSC does not apply, either, and you will have to pay whatever B6 charges you for the bags. Plus, if you miss the connection, you are on your own. In addition, as others pointed out, unless you are MPO GO or DM, only 2pc*32kg allowed in CX F.

In the event that CX did tag your bag to your B6 FLT, you may be lucky.

Great input gang. Guess I will just check 1 bag to be safe or carry on.

2 bookings. Mileage+revenue.

(Revenue yvr-tpa was over a grand 1 way, so i mixed it up)
If minimum connect time is 120. I should be fine at 110 right?

I have global entry and just hop on the skytrain post customs.

Should be ok if you have no check in baggage. However as it arrives quite early in the morning should be ok just hope there is no dealy on the CX flight.

Also just do olci for the B6 flight.

I would not have that assumption, especially if you are checking bag(s).

Data point: CX J agent at YVR checked 2 bags to SRQ with a MCT of 70 in JFK.
