Online Travel Booking and Bidding Agencies - NYOP and cc problems

Sorry if this has already been covered.
But on another travel related forum we have had two different non US residents say that their cc cannot be used to bid on NYOP.
At least one of those has called PL direct and they have no answer why.
Credit limits is not an issue.
Does anyone have an idea as to what might be happening? And how to fix it.
It should not make a difference but they are bidding for properties in Europe.
Thanks

And let me be clear the one with the most recent problems that called PL is using the correct PL and not the US PL I would use to bid.

Just so I'm clear - you're saying that this person is using the PL site for their home country (in other words, IF that person was from the UK, they are using priceline.co.uk, ditto for other countries) with a CC based in their home country in the currency of their home country and it is being declined?

Some card issuers block cards from being used for priceline (and other online travel sites), unless you ask they unblock them.
That may be the case here.

One who mentioned this problem was from Canada.
The one who has made many posts about this very recent problem is in Indonesia.
And they were using the non US international site to bid. They had a friend from the same country try to bid for them later. This cc was also declined.
I know they made a lot of calls or follow up. I would have to check backon that thread to see exactly what their cc company may have said to them.
I did PM them the link to this thread so hopefully they can get this resolved with some bit of advice they have not already thought of.
They are indeed PL converts and cannot wait to bid for the first time.
Thanks

Really? I have never heard of that. Are there examples of that on Flyertalk or other forums?

Well something is going on and it looks like it is on the PL end.
There must be 5 people on that thread all reporting the same thing. I would have to check for sure but I think they are all trying to bid or have recently tried to bid via PL UK.
PL claims they are not seeing any rejected CCs or bids. And the banks say there is no problem on their end.

And one more just posted that they also had a problem with a card they had used many times to bid just last night. Also pl uk.
They did get around that in time with a different card that was finally accepted.
PL has been very little help

We are now up to at least 8 or 9 different people with the same problem. All within the past 3 or 4 days.
Some are experienced bidders who have used their cc to bid many times before.
Some are trying 3 different credit cards and not able to bid. Some use multiple cards and are finally able to get a bid to go through.
These are all people living in Europe or Asia and using the international PL system to bid. Not the US one.
PL customer service has proved to be useless. They have tried. I have tried.
I did end up sending an email spelling out the problem but not the least bit hopeful it will end up with anyone in management that will understand it or be able to help.
Any suggestions at all?

I use priceline.co.uk when bidding in £'s and priceline.com when bidding in $'s using NYOP.
I use credit card A with .co.uk and credit card B with .com.
Both credit cards are UK issued cards on UK banks and linked to my UK address - never had any problems.

Yorkshire, many of those having problems right now have also bid in the past just as you have.
But they are haing problems now.
When was the last time you bid on PL UK? Within the past 5-6 days?

It was a couple of months back when I last bid using PL UK so it does appear that this issue is recent.
Do please keep us updated if a resolution is found - I'll be bidding again in the not too distant future for our Christmas vacation to Florida!

York, I have sent an email and called, others have sent emails and called, time will tell if we get an intelligent response back.
The best and only advice so far is change your cc.
Despite the fact that the bidder has already used 2 or 3 different ones.
We may hear back. It may clear on its own.
Time will tell

I suggest a new email address and a new credit card. Clear all the cookies from your browsers. Even better, use a different computer and IP address.
Who knows why this is happening, but that seems the best way to clear it.

Will, thanks.
But if this were only happening to one or two it might be a problem on the bidding end.
We must have at least 10 different people with this exact same problem, all recently, on a very small forum.
The good news is that PL management has called and they are looking into the issue.
This has to be something on their end.
Nothing else makes sense
